25-1 HIT: THEN THE ARC AT 12.0: Daqman went on a shopping spree in Paris at the weekend and pocketed 182.15 points profit from the two days of the Arc de Triomphe meeting in Paris, thanks to a 25-1 winner on the first day, Saturday, and a 12.0 BETDAQ 20-pointer on Bluestocking, winning gamble in the Arc itself as a FORTUNE COOKIE.

Sunday: 12-1 Arc winner: 144.50 Paris profit
WON 11-2 BLUESTOCKING BETDAQ 12.0 Longchamp

Saturday: 25-1 winner: 37.66 Paris profit
WON 25-1 GRATEFUL Longchamp
WON 2-5 ILLINOIS (double) Longchamp
WON 1-5 KYPRIOS (double) Longchamp

DAQMAN’S LONGCHAMP WRAP: Now read Daqman on the trend in the Arc and the horse dubbed ‘the next Arc winner’ but beaten at Longchamp yesterday.

EIGHT ARCS AND THE LADIES MEN

WHAT do Allez France, Urban Sea, Zarkava, Treve (twice), Found, Enable (twice), Alpinista and now Bluestocking have in common? All are fillies and mares who have won the Arc de Triomphe in the last 50 years.

But ask the question, how many times have they won it in the last 12 years and the answer is an incredible eight times.

That’s really far, far more than the norm of your usual stats and algorithms. It’s 2-1 on, and in some betting circumstances you could live off that. But why is it happening more and more often?

I don’t know the answer but I know a man who does. Two, in fact, in England. That’s how special is the talent and patience for training female winners of Oaks and Arcs displayed by Messrs Gosden and Beckett.

John ‘Enable’ Gosden has had those qualities throughout his training career, and it became so obvious that Ralph ‘Bluestocking’ Beckett had a knack with the ladies that he would call you out about it.

‘I’m not just a trainer of fillies,’ he insisted, as would the boss of any still-burgeoning yard who doesn’t want to limit the intake by sex, and he reminds you that his Westover was third in the Derby and second in the Arc.

Henry Cecil and Sir Michael Stoute were great trainers of fillies but they trained four and five Derbys respectively and a Beckett Derby is just around the corner.

But as Juddmonte will tell you after seven Arcs, the last three with Enable and Bluestocking, winning in Paris is now the breeder’s dream.

🇫🇷 FRENCH FARCE: Remember when Mickael Barzalona, then the ‘wonder boy’ jockey, stood up in the saddle to celebrate BEFORE the line but still managed to win the 2011 Derby on Pour Moi?

But it was a case of ‘POOR moi’ yesterday for any punters of his mount, odds-on Zarigana, whom he failed to get up on the line to catch his 100-1 pacesetting stablemate Vertical Blue, ridden by the new star rider, Alexis Pouchin.

Zarigana even as a two-year-old is being talked about in the Aga Khan’s camp as ‘the next Arc winner’, and she was cruising at her pace-setting stablemate in the Marcel Boussac two-year-olds classic but Barzalona was far too confident and was beaten on a head bob.

🇫🇷 FRENCH LESSON: Ryan Moore landed a hat-trick for Aidan O’Brien on the opening day of Longchamp (Illinois, Kyprios an Mount Kilimanjaro) but was last of 15 on O’Brien’s Port Fairy behind Christophe Soumillon on another Ballydoyle colt, 25-1 Grateful, in the Royallieu.

Then, on the second day, the Frenchman rubbed it in with a scintillating swoop on O’Brien’s Camille Pissaro in the Lagardere, colts’ version of the Boussac.

Ryan Moore was fifth on the 13-10 favourite, Henri Matisse, also trained at Ballydoyle. O’Brien told the Press: ‘Christophe is world class.’

ROSSA STILL ON CLOUD 9

3.37 Pontefract A marathon two mile two furlong trip and the maiden Surrey Force looks a little too short in the Betdaq Betting Exchange for my liking.

Trained by Kevin Philippart De Foy, the three-year-old is also completely unproven over this distance and on ground as testing as this.

* The usual disclaimer applies – it doesn’t mean that he won’t handle the trip or ground but do you really want to be playing at a short price to find out?

He was staying on well to finish third at Chester last time out and clearly has a strong chance but I prefer the claims of the more experienced Cinnodin who is partnered by Rossa Ryan who might just be still on cloud 9!

Cinnodin is a previous two mile soft ground winner at Newbury and whilst higher in the handicap these days showed his current well being with a good second at Kempton last time out. He was third in this same race last year proving he likes the idiosyncratic course (which not all do).

TUNED IN TO FINE INTERVIEW

5.20 Pontefract Fine Interview has done much better since returning from his spell in the UAE and coped really well with soft ground at Ffos Las winning his maiden in some style.

Despite into sixth next time, I think it was a stronger performance in form terms. He was stepped up to class 4 level and although only down the field wasn’t beaten far and off the same handicap mark can take some beating in a race where many of his rivals look in the grip of the handicapper – including Harry’s Halo who is another mudlark.

SHAMARDIA TO STRIKE AGAIN

7.00 Wolverhampton Shamardia is out again quickly after her course and distance win a week ago and can follow up under a 7lb fixed penalty.

The filly is on a good run of form which included her first success at Lingfield last month and might still be capable of finding some further improvement.

After winning four races out of five, the handicapper seems to have finally caught up with Split Elevens who went off favourite last time out at Yarmouth but dropped away at the back.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
