GREYHOUND PREVIEW: Barry previews the second batch of second round heats of the Irish Greyhound Derby from Shelbourne Park with recommendations on Betdaq.

Irish Greyhound Derby Round Two Saturday. Heats 9-16

Heat 9
πŸŸ₯ De Lahdedah
🟦 Bartlemy Cop
⬜ Extra Gain
⬛ Clonfert Annie
🟧 Knockeen Dazzler
πŸ”² Ryhope Beach

De Lahdedah may have been a shade disappointing last weekend, but this looks like a much better make up in heat nine and he can get the better of Knockeen Dazzler late on. De Lahdedah is fancied to turn handy in here and may only have Knockeen Dazzler in front of him at halfway. Dazzler should come on for last weeks spin and looks the biggest danger, but De Lahdedah should be nearing peak fitness now and hopefully he can put in another big performance. Ryhope Beach can take third.

Heat 10
πŸŸ₯ Beanos Podge
🟦 Whyaye Bonnylad
⬜ Singalong Dolly
⬛ Farney Chime
🟧 Carmac King
πŸ”² Fahy Hazel

For me this looks an open enough heat. The 6/1 currently on offer about Whyaye Bonnylad looks big and this Shelbourne Park regular will have his supporters on the night. I would be surprised if Bonnylad was to go off that big. He is a greyhound with fine early pace, and we have yet to see the best of him over this trip. Singalong Dolly was an impressive winner last time out and looks a big danger with a repeat. Carmac King excelled over this trip at the start of the year winning the Shelbourne Champion 550 and is another with huge claims. At the prices I’d be more than happy to side with Whyaye Bonnylad.

Heat 11
πŸŸ₯ Southwood Stan
🟦 Prince Naseem
⬜ Superfast Gorden
⬛ Born To Perform
🟧 Benalmadena Puma
πŸ”² Robbies Galaxy

Superfast Gorden met trouble on more than one occasion last time and can go one better this weekend. Highview Splash took his ground early last week, he was forced to check at the opening bend, again clipped from behind heading into the third bend and was forced wide off the last bend. Despite all this he ran a cracker to finish second. Robbies Galaxy was another to suffer huge traffic problems last time and he ran a blinder to qualify for owner/trainer Shea Campbell. Southwood Stan Prince Naseem and Born To Perform ran with credit in the opening round and Benalmadena Puma was the toast of the bookmakers after winning the last heat at 20/1. Superfast Gorden is better than his latest run and is fancied to come home ahead of Robbies Galaxy.

Heat 12
πŸŸ₯ Breaghmore Dice
🟦 Deelish Nora
⬜ Bonkersinyonkers
⬛ Down To Business
🟧 Blackeyed Turbo
πŸ”² Bombay Pat

All eyes will be on Bombay Pay in this. Pat was sensational last weekend when winning in fine style. The draw has been kind to Graham Hollands runner, and he should be far too good for his rivals. Down To Business was a good winner in round one but has a tricky draw with early pace on his inside. Blackeyed Turbo will be moving well from halfway and could easily grab a qualifying position, but this race is all about Bombay Pat, he is in the form of his life at present and that should continue this weekend. Breaghmore Dice and Deelish Nora were both opening round winners and will be hoping to qualify.

Heat 13
πŸŸ₯ Newport Pier
🟦 Callaway Knegare
⬜ Quarry Boy
⬛ Dromana Dano
🟧 Mustang Fever
πŸ”² Ballinabola Jim

Juvenile Derby Champion Callaway Knegare will be looking to get back on the winning trail for trainer Owen McKenna. Callaway has met defeat on his previous two outings, but I suspect he is ready to hit top form again this weekend. He ran well to qualify last weekend after meeting trouble early but is capable of much better. The current 4/7 on offer is on the skinny side but I suspect he will be closer to 4/5 come race time. Ballinabola Jim is in the form of his life and will certainly be there at the business end as too will last weeks winner Mustang Fever for Pat Guilfoyle.

Heat 14
πŸŸ₯ Faypoint Harvey
🟦 Hawkfield Abbie
⬜ Bubbly Shadow
⬛ Is She There
🟧 Droopys Avatar
πŸ”² Boylesports Bob

English Derby runner-up Boylesports has hardly put a paw wrong since he returned to action this year. His comeback run was a career best when winning in 29:39 and Bob went even quicker in round one when coming from well off the pace to win in 29:25. Bob has not always been the slickest of starters and there is an abundance of early paced performers in here. The 4/9 on Bob is on the short side but if he were to come away in similar fashion to the last two weeks he will have no issues. Droopys Avatar may have a good make up as too does Hawkfield Abbie who ran well behind Bockos Diamond last time out. Boylesports Bob is the class act, but I wouldn’t be taking a silly short price.

Heat 15
πŸŸ₯ Ower Cracker
🟦 De Foxy Devil
⬜ Arthur Cornflake
⬛ Dashing Toro
🟧 Scooby Pacemaker
πŸ”² Deadly Choice

One of the most open races of the night. Deadly Choice was costly to follow last weekend, he showed huge pace after a very slow start but must brush up on his trapping. Ower Cracker has won six of his last eight and is much better drawn that last time out. UK runner Arther Cornflake caught the eye in defeat behind Knockeen Dazzler and De Foxy Devil ran well when runner up behind Breaghmore Dice. Dashing Toro holds the track record for this trip in Tralee but is another who needs to trap better. Ower Cracker gets the vote to see off Deadly Choice and Dashing Toro.

Heat 16
πŸŸ₯ Ballymac Briar
🟦 Castleivy Ginge
⬜ Ballymac Danica
⬛ Hello Diego
🟧 Hot Wood
πŸ”² Cheap Sandwiches

A quality contest to end round two where Cheap Sandwiches will surely go off a short priced favourite. Sandwiches has been baulked at the opening turn on his last to starts but looks to have a good make up in this and he does look a cut above his rivals. Ballymac Danica was a well backed winner in the opening round and should be approaching peak fitness. Castleivy Ginge and Ballymac Briar met in the opening round where Ginge came out on top, they too are on the comeback trail and will be hoping to make round three while Hello Diego needs to step up on last weeks effort. Cheap Sandwiches looks the one to beat and its whatever wins the battle of the early paced railers on the run to the corner will be left to give chase.

Good luck to all connections.
Barry.
