West Indies v England 3rd ODI

MATCH OVERVIEW:

We have a series decider as West Indies and England clash again on BETDAQ Betting Exchange on Wednesday! After a very one sided affair in the 1st ODI that put England under pressure, the captain led from the front with a wonderful 124 not out leading his side to chase down the 328/6 from the West Indies with plenty of balls to spare in the end. Things were looking quite bleak for England at the innings break, even more so at 63/2 but once again Jacob Bethell and Liam Livingstone put on an excellent partnership. It was them that got England out of trouble against Australia at the end of the English season too.

West Indies haven’t done much wrong – their batters look in good touch and they’ve been taking advantage of some average England bowling. It was interesting to see Jofra Archer play back-to-back games; I thought the ECB would have rested him as they still look to manage his workload. I’d expect him to play here given the break between the 2nd ODI and this one; but don’t be surprised if he’s left out. If Archer doesn’t play, that would be a complete disaster for the England bowling line-up – he was the only one that managed an economy under six at the weekend.

Obviously England have a very young side, a young squad but they still had to rely on the ones with experience on Saturday. One wonders how the middle order will get on with Livingstone fails – he seems absolutely vital in that middle order. I don’t think West Indies should change much, and as I said at the start of the series, this is an excellent chance for them to win a series against England. A fascinating game awaits!

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

The sides move to Bridgetown in Barbados for the 3rd and final ODI. The squads will be here for a while as we have the first two T20’s on the tour here too – England should have a good level of support as this is a very popular ground with tourists. The last side to play here in an ODI was England too – they played in 2023 scoring 206/9 in a 40 over innings. We had more rain, and West Indies won on DLS in a 34 over chase. India also played two ODI’s here in 2023, they bowled West Indies out for 114 to win the first one and then they got bowled out for 184 in the 2nd ODI for West Indies to chase that down. That was at a different time of the year, but I’d still want to bowl first here.

RECOMMENDED BET:

Once again we have another interesting market here. West Indies started the tour at 2.25, came in to 2.02 after winning impressively, and now after England roared back West Indies are out to 2.12 again. As I said above, apart from the wonderful Liam Livingstone innings West Indies haven’t put a foot wrong. The 2.12 is a very tempting bet, however I do feel that the toss is very important here – England are 1.86 and to be honest I want to be on whoever bowls first here. I feel that will offer a match winning edge – and I’m happy to back whoever bowls first.

The Edge Says:
Two points win The Side Who Bowls First (West Indies 2.12, England 1.86) with Betdaq Exchange

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

The batters were definitely on top in the 2nd ODI, but I do feel this might have a game for the bowlers to take advantage. Bowling first is going to offer an edge here, and I feel backing the bowling side in the first innings will offer the best in-running edge. I am worried about the England bowling if they decide to “rest” Jofra Archer, so beware of that, but given the longer than usual gap between games I would expect England to play him in a game where the series is on the line – let’s face it, they badly need him!
