DOCK LOOKS CLASSY TYPE

12.35 Cheltenham (Triumph Trial) James Owen, who won this last year with Burdett Road, has switched Sam Twiston-Davies to East India Dock as his representative in the same race today.

East India Dock has two Derby winners in his immediate pedigree, by Golden Horn out of a Galileo mare, and is a half-brother to Burdett Road. Readily won a Wincanton juvenile.

Prairie Angel has won four out of five with cut in the ground but fillies don’t win this (1-10) and she was well beaten by Moutarde on the Flat.

SUD FOLLOWS THE TRAIL

⭕ 1.45 Cheltenham (Arkle Trial) Put The Kettle On (2019) for Ireland was the last winner of this to follow up in March and take the Arkle proper.

Top Irish raider today is Joseph O’Brien, who drops Jordans from the equation to run San Salvador, who was Jordans conqueror at Listowel in September but is 50-1 with some bookies for the Arkle proper.

L’Eau Du Sud follows Dan Skelton’s lucky route to winning this race twice: North Hill Harvey (2017) and Third Time Lucki (2021) both ran in the County Hurdle the previous season.

But L’Eau Du Sud did better than just run in the race: the grey finished second, only a length down, in the County Hurdle to recent Melbourne Cup fifth, Absurde.

NICHOLLS’ DESTINY AGAIN?

⭕ 2.20 Cheltenham (November Gold Cup) A drought for favourites was ended by Paul Nicholls last year and this race has beenthe target for Ginnys Destiny since the Yeats gelding was second in the Turners at Cheltenham and the Manifesto at Aintree, when he had the Turners winner, Grey Dawning, behind him in third.

Ga Law won today’s race in 2023, with Il Ridoto fourth in receipt of 2lb. Now a stone or so better off, Il Ridoto had done much better over the CD on soft in the December Gold Cup, beaten a short-head by Fugitif who also prefers soft ground.

Winner of the Leinster National, Hartur d’Arc may need further and on winter ground, and Henry De Bromhead risks a 3lb claimer on Punchestown winner Lets Go Champ.

Protektorat is rated well clear but that means the runner-up in 2021 has 12st top-weight, and it was soft ground when he won the Ryanair in March.

Imagine (2m winner) Silver Cup score and In Excelsis Deo are only six, but are both rated above Ga Law when he won it at that age.

IDEAL GROUND FOR QUEST

⭕ 2.55 Cheltenham The ground and 3m look ideal for Doyen Quest, who won at the April meeting at Cheltenham on good ground.

Progressive last term yet, stepping up in trip today, he is unexposed. Prepped for this in a quality handicap at Chepstow, his first run since Cheltenham.

Prominent-racer Gowel Road won the 3.30 handicap hurdle (2m 5f) on this card last year but has to give 18lb to the selection.

WhatsApp with Paul Nicholls Emailandy? He is a big, strong beast who will need the run, is the social message from the trainer.

Last year’s winning connections are back with Zeeband, who has had a busy year and is high in the handicap as a result.

WYENOT A WIN FOR SAM

⭕ 3.30 Cheltenham As well as Gowel Road (2021), Springwell Boy (2023) was another winner of this, and we saw him yesterday succumb – third – to Hyland, who was landing his third course win.

It all goes to show, time and again, that course form, New Course or Old, is a vital element in winner-finding at Cheltenham.

But there’s just one previous track success in this handicap hurdle: Wyenot made all here just 22 days ago at this level.

Alice Stevens was in the plate that day, as she was when the mare was successfully launched for the season at Kempton.

Sam Twiston-Davies followed up that race but Wyenot seemed to hit a flat spot and, though beaten, finished like the proverbial train. Sam will want to prove that was all wrong! Betdaq Betting Exchange 8.6

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
