PREMIER LEAGUE: The Striker previews CHELSEA v ASTON VILLA and LIVERPOOL v MANCHESTER CITY both with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
CHELSEA V ASTON VILLA
1.30pm It’s a huge Super Sunday from the Premier League on BETDAQ Betting Exchange! Some Super Sundays are better than others, and this is one right out of the top drawer. All eyes will no doubt be on the massive clash between Liverpool and Manchester City later, but we kick off the day with three games starting at 1.30pm. For me, easily the pick of those games is Chelsea hosting Aston Villa in what should be a high quality game. Obviously you have Manchester United and Spurs both in action at home after the Europa League Thursday night games, but I’m happy to focus on Chelsea v Villa. Chelsea come into the game as the odds on favourites at 1.75 with Aston Villa 4.7 and the draw is 4.4 at the time of writing. Villa got a 0-0 draw midweek in the Champions League against Juventus to put themselves in a decent position there, but they have been dropping points in the Premier League lately. Another draw last weekend at home to Crystal Palace meant it was four games without a win, and only one win from their last seven Premier League games. They’re only three points behind Chelsea who sit in the Top Four, but they do feel a lot further away.
When you look at the stats, it’s pretty clear that Villa aren’t firing this season. Obviously they have had headline wins against Bayern Munich for example, but their average xG created is only 1.32 in the Premier League. That’s actually the joint-fifth worst attacking figure, and it’s easy to see why they’ve dropped so many points. They are only marginally creating more chances than they are conceding, and that performance level usually leads to a mid-table spot in nearly all of Europe’s elite leagues. Chelsea are playing much better football going forward, but they have been conceding more chances than Villa. So far sides haven’t been taking their chances against Chelsea – their average xG conceded is 1.38 but the actual figure is 1.17. The Villa attacking levels doesn’t inspire confidence to support Both Teams To Score at 1.6 or Over 2.5 goals at just one tick lower in my opinion. I feel those two bets don’t offer the same amount of value as the Chelsea win at 1.75 – Chelsea are playing with a lot of confidence this season, and they can get the job done here.

LIVERPOOL V MANCHESTER CITY
4pm We finish Super Sunday with by far the biggest game of the 2024/25 Premier League season! Liverpool host Manchester City, and I don’t think it’s too dramatic to call this a must win game for City. Liverpool already have a eight point lead of City coming into this game, and they’ve just gone odds on favourites for the title too. Manchester City are going through their biggest crisis yet under Pep Guardiola – three Premier League losses in a row has been made worst with a terrible run in the Champions League as well. Whatever about the losing five games in a row headline, draw 3-3 from 3-0 up at home against Feyneoord midweek was a crazy thing to see. Guardiola was covered in scratches after the game and told his press conference that he wanted to “harm himself.” To say things are falling apart quickly for City is an understatement at the moment – especially considering that they have the 115 charges hanging over them too. In between all this, Guardiola has signed a new contact too! Liverpool fans must be enjoying all the City drama, they are just ticking off games one by one and getting the job done. Their biggest drama is the Mo Salah contract situation.
In terms of on-field matters, Liverpool have been absolutely fantastic. Another win midweek in the Champions League, this time at home to Real Madrid, leaves them top of the Champions League table as well as the Premier League table. It’s been hard to knock Arne Slot, and he has seemingly fixed the issues at the back that Liverpool were having under Klopp – given their attacking flare already to begin with, you now have a winning machine with them being solid at the back. Liverpool come into the game as the favourites at 2.14 with Manchester City 3.6 and the draw is 3.85 at the time of writing. With the way sides have been playing through City with ease lately, I really expected to see Liverpool as the odds on favourites here. Spurs absolutely hammered City last weekend, and now they face quite possibly the best side in Europe on current form. Liverpool are attacking with speed and I just don’t see City being able to handle that with their current system and players missing. At 2.14, I’m happy with a Five Star NAP on Liverpool.
