WISE WARNING FOR STORM

⭕ 12.14 Wetherby Henry Daly’s Rockinastorm must be every punter’s coincidence bet to launch a depleted day. He should again go well from the front after making all in slow time at Ludlow.

But, though Jonjo O’Neill is not an easy trainer to follow, his season was lit up yesterday when Bill Joyce won a prestigious Grade-2 novices at Sandown, marking him down for the Challow at the end of the month.

Does it mean Jonjo is in form or was that win a one-off? The weather has shredded his entries today but he has 5-1 shot Are U Wise To That with a decent chance in this three-mile chase.

He was a winner in December last year, making it two out of three over fences, and had a run back at Cheltenham in October.

LUCK BE A LADY FOR JAMIE

⭕ 12.48 Wetherby Yorkshire Lady, a scorer on the Flat this autumn – her fifth – won going away here at Wetherby on her sole start over hurdles, jumping soundly and quickening well under today’s jockey, Jamie Hamilton.

Schmilsson was a CD winner here first run back a grade higher than today. Giving weight to both, Classic Maestro performs best on heavy and the Jennie Candlish card is a modest 1-17.

SUD CAN FOIL ELLIOTT RAID

⭕ 1.50 Sandown (Henry VIII Novices Chase) Altior, Jonbon, Edwardstone and Sceau Royal.. winners of this read like a Who’s Who of two-mile chasers.

But the Henderson-Nicholls hold on the race is relinquished this year and it could be a first for the Irish with Gordon Elliott saddling two of the four runners.

Touch Me Not laid a bogey about the ground when an impressive winner at Punchestown last month, while Down Memory Lane was even more impressive and given a 2lb higher rating by turning over another stablemate who was favourite at Navan.

But you are still climbing the ratings, however tenuous at this stage, to reach L’Eau Du Sud, County Hurdle runner-up back at Cheltenham to land the odds in the Arkle Trial.

JONBON COULDN’T DO MORE

⭕ 3.00 Sandown (Tingle Creek Chase) All they wanted from Jonbon was a better round of jumping in the Schloer at Cheltenham.

Says Nicky Henderson: ‘We got it and he won it; he couldn’t have been more fluent.’

The nine-lengths 2022 winner, Edwardstone (good to soft), was beaten almost three lengths by Jonbon on heavy last year.

Quilixios made it three out of six over fences (two on soft, one on good), including success as a beginner over 2m 3f.

He is still officially 5lb behind Boothill, who was second to Jonbon in the Shloer last month, with Edwardstone only third.

TOP OF THE BILL BETDAQ 10.5

⭕ 3.35 Sandown (London National) Paul Nicholls, who has won this three times in the last seven years, had Broken Halo disputing third last year when he fell two out behind the stable’s winner, Truckers Lodge.

Sara Bradstock has booked Nico De Boinville to take over on her runaway Devon National winner, Mr Vango, who went 60 lengths clear on heavy last February.

But the finishers that day were rated between 118 and 123. Though he has gone up to join four others between 133 to 143, he pulled up in the Scottish National and is tongue-tied now.

Montgomery gets 8lb from Mr Vango but disappointed – ninth – in that Scottish National though, at six, he was still learning and Venetia Williams has been in brilliant form.

Top Of The Bill ‘will stay forever’, said Jim Old, speaking for the Twiston-Davies stable. The target is the Welsh Grand National but he’s had a run back and may be competitive today.

Betdaq Betting Exchange 4.8 Montgomery, 5.5 Mr Vango, 9.8 Broken Halo, 10.5 Top Of The Bill
