New Zealand v England 3rd Test
MATCH OVERVIEW:
We have the 3rd and final Test match between New Zealand and England on BETDAQ Betting Exchange this week as the sides move to Hamilton on Friday. England have had a very busy 2024 – in fairness they are very busy every year given they are one of the big three cash cows for the ICC – but they are ending 2024 on a high note with a series win already in the bag. They absolutely hammered New Zealand in the 2nd Test with Joe Root going to a 100 in style – a shot he has been overly criticised for in the past, and then Ben Stokes declaring when he was on 49 to show this England side doesn’t really care about millstones. England won while putting their “haters” back in their box you could say given everything that happened.
New Zealand have been quite poor in this series. However, they have been on the decline for a while now apart from a shock 3-0 series win in India. Where that series win came from is anyone’s guess – especially considering it’s so hard to win one Test in India never mind a series whitewash! New Zealand have been totally out-batted and out-bowled in this series though, and the way in which they were beaten in the 2nd Test is hard to take. I think it was the speed in which they folded in the second innings – showing no fight is always something that is jumped on by fans and media.
We should have another entertaining Test here given the way both sides play – the 2nd Test was pretty much perfect for England because all of their batters look in good form. Given how fast they bat, that will likely put New Zealand under immense pressure!
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
The long-range forecast has a little rain around for Hamilton, but at the moment anyway, I don’t think we’ll see enough showers to have a massive impact on the game. These two bat very positively, and England will likely declare aggressively at some stage anyway too! Hamilton is another superb venue for Test cricket, and we usually see a result here. Only two draws from the last 15 Test matches – the last time England played here we did have a draw though back in 2019. This is a classic New Zealand ground; plenty of runs when batters get in and plenty of low scores too when the ball is moving around.
RECOMMENDED BET:
The draw is trading 9.0 at the time of writing, that’s a big price but it’s still the lowest draw price of the series which highlights how these two sides play cricket! We have landed two bets on England, and it’s hard to get away from them here at 2.0. They were so far ahead in the 2nd Test that I felt they would be odds on heading into this Test. As I said above, it was almost the perfect Test for them with nearly all the batters scoring and looking in good touch. The bowlers have been very impressive too, and I’m happy to get on England again.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
I wouldn’t be surprised to see the forecast change a little around this Test, so keeping an eye on the radar is definitely a trading angle here. Before the rain comes in might be the best time to bowl too, so that might be a good time to get on the bowling side. As you would expect with a New Zealand ground, once batters get in and get settled, there are a lot of runs available so you can definitely ride that momentum way in the market – England backers have had a lot of success with that angle in this series given how quickly their batters have scored once they got going.
