PREMIER LEAGUE: The Striker previews BRIGHTON v CRYSTAL PALACE, MANCHESTER CITY v MANCHESTER UNITED and CHELSEA v BRENTFORD all with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
BRIGHTON V CRYSTAL PALACE
2pm A massive Super Sunday in the Premier League awaits on BETDAQ Betting Exchange! We have a massive day ahead with the obvious highlight the Manchester Derby. Either side of that though we have two very interesting games, and it’s nice to have a 7pm kick off to enjoy on a Sunday night which isn’t a usual TV slot. We start the day with Brighton hosting Crystal Palace, and it’s fair to say both sides need a result here. Brighton have been giving away points recently against opposition that they should be beating on paper – they had to settle for draws against Southampton and Leicester, and in between lost 3-1 to Fulham. If you want to compete for the European spots, you can’t be giving away points against sides in the relegation battle. Crystal Palace are another side in the relegation battle, at least for the time being because they are playing much better football compared to the other sides around them. Their average xG created at 1.38 is a mid-table figure, but they’ve been really struggling to take those chances – only Southampton have had less success in front of goal this season!
Brighton come into the game as the odds on favourites at 1.94 with Crystal Palace 4.2 and the draw is 3.95 at the time of writing. After a terrible start to the season, Palace have been getting results lately. They’ve only lost once in their last seven games – they played well to get a draw against Manchester City last weekend. They haven’t exactly had an easy fixture list on that run too having met the likes of Spurs and Aston Villa as well. I do feel that the 1.94 is a little short on Brighton here; Brighton have been quite sloppy at the back this season and obviously that has got them into some tricky situations. Over 2.5 goals is trading 1.78 and Both Teams To Score is a couple of ticks lower at 1.71. Both these sides have been reasonably good going forward – I hope Palace have really struggled converting their chances, but we know Brighton do give sides plenty of chances. I’m happy with a small position on Both Teams To Score at 1.71 in what should be an open game and entertaining game. I couldn’t put anyone off the Brighton lay too, but I feel there’s more value with BTTS.

MANCHESTER CITY V MANCHESTER UNITED
4.30pm The Manchester Derby is the highlight of the weekend, and it takes up the prime time TV slot on Super Sunday. There’s always some drama coming into the Manchester Derby – for many seasons now it’s been the United manager under pressure, but this time all the focus is on the situation at City and how Pep Guardiola has been dealing with this losing run. Guardiola has done a lot of out of character things over the last few weeks, and another loss midweek to Juventus in the Champions League doesn’t help matters. Still, nothing like a game against Manchester United to get you back winning and full of confidence hey? United had another eventful night in the Europa League on Thursday, they waited late but finally got the winner away to Plzen – another side that they should be beating easily on paper but made hard work of it. The new manager Ruben Amorim speaks very well, he comes with an excellent reputation, but he’s dealing with a very limited squad. I’ve already said this but it’s worth repeating; this squad just doesn’t have the talent for his system.
City have been having huge issues with their system too, missing key players has really messed the balance of the side and Guardiola has seemingly had no fixes for things in recent week. It will be fascinating to see how United take advantage of that; whether they are good enough is the big question. Manchester City come into the game as the odds on favourites at 1.62 with Manchester United 5.4 and the draw is 4.9 at the time of writing. With home advantage, the 1.62 on City is a tempting bet in my opinion. They’ve been going off closer to 1.3 at home to United in recent years and although they are clearly struggling, I don’t think they should be close to double the price. United have a huge amount of issues too, and they haven’t been playing good football under Amorim yet either. With City leaking goals, Over 2.5 goals is definitely an option at 1.5 but I feel City will out score United here and at 1.62, I’m happy with a Five Star NAP on the home win!

CHELSEA V BRENTFORD
7pm We finish Super Sunday with Chelsea hosting Brentford – as I said above we don’t often have Sunday night games and while this is a nice kick off time for everyone on TV, it’s not ideal for fans who go to the game. Chelsea come into the game as the red-hot favourites at 1.37 with Brentford 8.8 and the draw is 6.2 at the time of writing. Chelsea have really turned into the dark horses in the title race this season, and another win last weekend stole the headlines as they bounced back from 2-0 down against Spurs. Cole Palmer was the star again; he just makes the game look so easy – another ice cold penalty too! Chelsea have been banging in goals for fun recently – they’ve won their last four Premier League games while scoring 14 goals along the way. In the Outright market, they are now shorter than Manchester City to win – how many football fans would have said that would happen before Christmas? The Chelsea performances have been getting better as the season goes on too; you can see that they are full of confidence at the moment.
They have the fourth best attacking figure now, and they’ve scored the most amount of goals this season. This could be a very entertaining game, because the side who has scored the joint-second highest amount of goals is Brentford! We know Brentford like to play a very open game, and their games have been the most entertaining in the Premier League this season. They do have an average xG conceded of 1.83 which is exceptionally high – that’s the joint-second worst defensive figure in the Premier League this season. Against an in-form Chelsea side, it’s hard to see Brentford getting a result bringing a defensive figure to Stamford Bridge. There’s no prizes for tipping 1.37 shots, but I would recommend Chelsea in any weekend Acca. I feel Chelsea can cover the handicap here; and I’m going to go for a bigger price here. Chelsea are trading 3.1 -2.5 goals and that looks worth a small investment in what should be a high scoring game.
