TOTTENHAM V LIVERPOOL

8pm The Carabao Cup Semi-Finals continue on BETDAQ Betting Exchange with the first leg between Spurs and Liverpool on Wednesday night. Both sides have had some very entertaining games this season and you’d have to expect plenty of drama here! It’s been a rollercoaster for Spurs fans this season, and once again they failed to get a win at the weekend when losing to Newcastle. Ange Postecoglou said after the game it was the angriest he’s ever been after a game with the referee decisions, but surely he’s had enough angry moments for a lifetime watching his players make so many mistakes!

Liverpool dropped points at the weekend in the title race, but it was still a good weekend given Arsenal had to settle for a draw too. We had a very dramatic second half between Liverpool and Manchester United; Ruben Amorim described the game perfect – angry at his players for turning up for certain games and not others. Classic Man United. It might be interesting to see the team selection from Arne Slot here; if he is tempted to rest some players or not given the Premier League is the obviously priority at the moment. This is usually the stage of the League Cup that the top sides start to take it seriously, so I do expect a strong XI, especially away from home.

Spurs are obviously a bad run results wise at the moment – they’ve had a lot of injuries of course but they’ve made so many mistakes. As always, something “Spursy” is never far away. Even in the Quarter-Final; controlling the game against Manchester United and then two incredible mistakes to cause drama. From a Spurs point of view, they need a result here – they can’t go to Anfield behind in the tie with Liverpool so strong this season. It’s not a surprise to see Liverpool come into the odds on favourites at 1.66 with Tottenham 5.1 and the draw is 4.8 at the time of writing.

Spurs have been creating a huge amount of chances this season, but their average xG created has been falling in recent weeks – their latest performances dragging down the average. They were second for chances created, now they are fourth. Liverpool have shot up the table with chances created – their average xG created now is 1.83 which is an impressive figure. Not only that, but Arne Slot has them very solid at the back too – something which Klopp always struggled with. Liverpool now have the third best defensive figure. Spurs have only managed one win in eight Premier League games, and obviously the Quarter-Final win in the Carabao Cup came against a struggling Manchester United too.

It’s hard to get away from Liverpool here at 1.66. They are playing much better football compared to Spurs, and they hammered them 6-3 here recently too when the sides met in the Premier League. Obviously the game screams goals, but the market is expecting goals with Over 2.5 goals trading close to 1.3! From a value point of view, it’s hard to see past Liverpool here and they are a confident bet in my opinion.
