IPSWICH V BRIGHTON

7.30pm We finish the midweek Premier League fixtures with a fascinating Thursday night on BETDAQ Betting Exchange. We have two sides in the relegation zone against two sides that have found it difficult to win games this season! We kick off the night with Ipswich hosting Brighton, and we have a very interesting market here. Ipswich have managed two wins and a draw from their last five Premier League games and they probably have the most belief they ever had that they can say up this season now. Brighton have been on a terrible run – they have gone eight Premier League games without a win now! I’m sure there will be some big opinions on the Brighton price here. Brighton are trading 2.0 with Ipswich 4.0 and the draw is 3.85 at the time of writing. Brighton have definitely gone backwards this season in my opinion – they’ve really struggled to get over the line in games too. Their average xG created is a little below last season, and they have been sloppy at the back too. Their average xG conceded is respectable at 1.25, but they’ve been conceding over that.

As I said above, Ipswich are in the best shape of the season coming into this game. What that is worth is obviously debatable, which is why I said we’re going to have some strong opinions on the Brighton price either side of the book! Ipswich have the second worst attacking figure this season with an average xG conceded of 1.04 – the three promoted sides are quite adrift on under-lining numbers to be honest. Ipswich have also been poor at the back – they are in the bottom five on defensive figures too. With all that being said, given the current run of Brighton I still feel that the 2.0 doesn’t make any appeal here. We should have an entertaining game here, and Over 2.5 goals is a nice price at 1.79 in my opinion. Both sides have been quite sloppy at the back this season so I can see plenty of mistakes here. I couldn’t put anyone off a Brighton lay from a value point of view, but I like Over 2.5 goals as my best bet.

MANCHESTER UNITED V SOUTHAMPTON

8pm We finish the midweek Premier League fixture list with Manchester United host Southampton. This hasn’t happened often in the Premier League recently, but Manchester United are the shortest price this matchday! That’s probably a reflection of just how poor Southampton have been rather than anything else; it would be classic Manchester United to produce a wonderful performance at Anfield, knock Arsenal out of the FA Cup and then drop points to Southampton. As Ruben Amorim said after the Liverpool game, he was more mad that the squad didn’t put in that type of effort against the smaller sides. That pretty much sums up this Manchester United squad; you never know when they are going to turn up. Amorim speaks very well though, and I have a lot of confidence that he’s the right man to finally sort out all the issues with the squad. That’s going to take a lot of time though, and he needs the fans on his side. United come into the game as the red-hot favourites here – they are trading 1.32 with Southampton 10.5 and the draw is 6.4 at the time of writing. As I said above, that 1.32 is the shortest Premier League price this week!

While United should get the job done here, you wouldn’t exactly be rushing to include them in your midweek Acca at these odds. The needle might be turning under Amorim over the last week, but the performances against Bournemouth, Wolves and Newcastle were exceptionally poor. Two of those losses came here too; obviously I wouldn’t recommend a United lay because Southampton have been so poor, but as I said you wouldn’t be rushing to back United at such short odds. Southampton have quite easily been the worst Premier League side this season; they are nailed to the bottom of the table – six points from twenty games is exceptionally poor. The 5-0 hammering at home to Brentford was probably the final nail in the coffin if they had any chance of fighting to stay up. I feel we’ll see plenty of action here – Over 2.5 goals is trading 1.57 which is too big to ignore in my opinion. I don’t see Southampton sitting back to play for a draw here, and United could easily concede at some stage too – this game screams goals.

The Striker Says:
Two points win Over 2.5 goals at 1.57 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE
