LA LIGA: The Ultra previews Monday Night Football from La Liga as Elche host Real Betis with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
ELCHE V REAL BETIS
8pm: The opening matchday from La Liga continues on Betdaq Betting Exchange as Elche host Real Betis for Monday night football from Europe. While this is clearly not the most glamorous fixture over the opening weekend, we do have an interesting market. Real Betis come into the game as the favourites at 2.28 with Elche 3.55 and the draw is 3.45 at the time of writing. Elche went down in the 2022/23 season when finishing bottom of the table, but they are back again after finishing second behind Levante in the Segunda. Real Betis have remained consistent in-or-around that sixth place, but there are signs that they might be able to move up a little.
Obviously with Elche just coming back up, Real Betis will be expected to win this game. Real Betis finished last season with the third best attacking figure in La Liga – they had an average xG created of 1.49, and while that was a long way behind Barcelona at 1.91 and Real Madrid at 1.8, it was ahead of the likes of Atletico Madrid and Athletic Bilbao who finished ahead of them. It’s hard to see Betis actually challenging the top four, but surely they must come into the new season with the idea that they could break into that fourth position – at least that has to be their goal anyway!
One area where they could easily improve is at the back. Their average xG conceded last season was 1.19 which is a reasonably solid figure – however they were sloppy and conceded over that. Atletico Madrid and Athletic Bilbao both finished the season with a better xG conceded figure, and if they are indeed going to have any hope of actually challenging for that top four then they need to be more solid at the back. It’s taken Elche a while to re-build; the Segunda is actually very weak and you see clubs bounce back up quickly quite often. Elche actually finished down in 11th in their first season – you could have easily said they wouldn’t get back into La Liga for a while after that.
Obviously their home games will be very important this season, and I can understand why Real Betis aren’t trading odds on here. However, I would have them a good bit shorter than the current 2.28. For me that looks cracking value looking at the Betis performance levels from last season, and the gulf in class between the Segunda and La Liga is massive. They can get the job done here anyway from home, and they are a confident bet in my opinion.
The Ultra Says:
Three points win Real Betis to beat Elche at 2.28 with BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE.
