DIAMOND IN EBOR ROUGH
⭕ 3.35 York (Ebor Handicap): STATS: Only one winner above the age of six since 1960. Only one has carried more than 9st 8lb since 1979.
The Irish have won this four times in six seasons with different trainers, including Johnny Murtagh (one runner today) and Willie Mullins (3), who bring four more over.
The last two winners were first and fourth in the County Hurdle at Cheltenham: Ethical Diamond (Mullins) was fourth in the same race in March but appears to play second-string to the same stable’s Hipop De Loire, ridden by Colin Keane from stall 9.
Hipop is an eight-year-old but was fifth in last year’s Ebor, when repeatedly denied a clear run from gate 2. A maiden over hurdles until July and has raced only 13 times.
That’s the same as the three-years-younger Ethical Diamond, who has a strong draw in 21 and was an impressive Royal Ascot winner over 1m 4f.
London City (18) is a York 1m 4f winner, even more lightly raced (lifetime seven runs); not disgraced in the Curragh Cup over this 1m 6f trip.
But Ryan Moore rides Ballydoyle stablemate Queenstown (5), who finished just behind London City that day but was a modest 17th in last year’s Ebor.
The unexposed home defender is Majestic Warrior (17). Only four times on a racecourse, doubled up in the Spring, adding 11lb to his rating, and he’s half-brother to the 2020 Ebor winner, who followed up from the same Royal Ascot handicap win this summer as French Master.
Drawn 22 in this, French Master was not disgraced upped to 2m for the Goodwood Cup and will prefer the ground today.
Shadow Dance (8), drawn next door to Hipop De Loire (9), may need some cut in the ground.
Ascending (16) has the speed and stamina for this and likes top of the ground: won the Cork Derby (1m 4f), followed by the Ascot Stakes (2m 4f) and hurdles career put on hold.
Betdaq Betting Exchange 8.9 Ethical Diamond, 14 Majestic Warrior, 16 Ascending
GOSDEN TO HIT THE MARK
⭕ 1.50 York John and Thady Gosden’s form at York here this week, excluding 2yo races: 12012011. Soft ground and the French Derby trip did not agree with their Kingman colt, Bowmark, but he was a bit of value here at BETDAQ 6.1 against the exposed Bullet Point, who has to give him 7lb.
⭕ 2.05 Goodwood Another Gosden, Mudbir in first-time cheekpieces, doubled up this summer – on soft and firm, including here at Goodwood – and Jim Crowley will want to take this opportunity on his favourite track (nearly £6m won here).
By Dark Angel out of a Sea The Stars mare, Back In Black goes exceptionally well fresh, and won eased down at Newbury in the Spring. James Fanshawe’s last three favourites have gone well and his losing run ended on Thursday.
BRAVE CHAMPION CHANCE
⭕ 3.00 York (City Of York Stakes) Rosallion just failed to catch Docklands in June and was narrowly held by pacemaker Qirat in July, both over a mile, and I see him second again here – dropped back to 7f – with Never So Brave improved a stone this year and Oisin Murphy in champion form.
Three-year-olds have not won this in the five seasons of its upgrade to Group 1 and the ground is a worry for front-runner Maranoa Charlie, who will struggle to hold 16.0 BETDAQ offer Exactly on French 1,000 Guineas form.
⭕ 4.10 York Two Tribes goes for a hat-trick raised a total of 13lb, with his runners up at Goodwood (before) and Ascot (since) both letting down the form.
A 12.0 BETDAQ offer this morning, Jubilee Walk (beaten a neck) and Blue Point’s son Pocklington (short of room) ran well here in the Dash from low draws like today’s.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….
Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
