TODAY’S BETDAQ-VALUE ROUND-UP: Though Salisbury has been abandoned, there’s racing in mud (Longchamp), racing on Tapeta (Southwell) and Polytrack (Lingfield), Jumps racing at Sedgefield and even racing on the beach (Laytown). Where’s the value? On BETDAQ, of course.

TOMORROW: Look out for a bull’s-eye bet at Ascot .

SUN SET ON THE MOYGLARE

⭕ 2.30 Haydock LAYS LOGIC: Charlie Appleby has won this class-3 for two-year-olds (one mile) four years running. He’s the Commanding Officer!

But be warned that Faeberon ‘has been winning races at home’ and the Crisfords have a 32% strike rate with their youngsters.

Also in the field is a Karl Burke son of Teofilo out of a Dubawi mare, the 200,000gn yearling Galilean Quality, trying to add to the stable’s 44 juvenile winners on turf this year.

Burke intends to challenge for the Moyglare with his four-times unbeaten filly, Venetian Sun, who beat Gstaad in the Morny.

She would have to take on the pick of 12 Aidan O’Brien possibles, including four winners last time out.

The Moyglare at the Curragh on Sunday week has produced such Ballydoyle stars as Minding (2015) and O’Brien has won three more since then. Burke took it with Fallen Angel (2023).

DERBY-DOUBLE PROFIT MAN

⭕ 4.25 Southwell Reason to be hungry for winners. How about if you are moving stables but have to take a year off in between?

Man on the move is Ben Brookhouse, who won both the Ladies Derby and the Amateurs Derby at Epsom this summer with Gordon Grey.

He’s booked Jamie Spencer for Profitman, who got home here by a nose (giving weight to the runner-up) last winter.

The Brookhouse lease on Saville House, Newmarket, runs out at the end of October and he will relaunch near Stratford.

His new location, Moor Hall Farm, is in jumping country, a few miles either way from both Dan Skelton and Olly Murphy.

The danger to Profitman today is probably Petra Celera who won over the Southwell CD last August and might return to that form after a wind op.

Betdaq Betting Exchange 16 Profitman, 21 Petra Celera

WHY RAIN MAKES MUSIC

⭕ 4.37 Haydock Three-year-olds win this 1m 2f fillies handicap and one who won’t mind rain has to be the selection.

Hot Flame (John and Thady Gosden) won on good to soft on debut but then couldn’t catch a quality winner, Aeolian, for William Haggas but that one flopped on firm when aimed high at York.

For Haggas in this one, the Frankel filly Consecrated has a higher rating than Aeolian at this stage but was twice a beaten favourite in May and June, and was a drifter in the morning markets.

Owners Cheveley Park will be hoping she can return to form and then get some black type in a Listed before the season is over.

Today’s verdict goes to Music Piece. She’s already run a cracker in a Listed, beaten a neck in the Oaks trial, Height Of Fashion Stakes, at Goodwood.

The third filly home that day went on to win the Sandringham at Royal Ascot and then was runner-up to a 104-rated in a Listed.

The ground has been against Music Piece during the summer but she won on the soft here at Haydock so this race is ideal. BETDAQ 7.6 taken.

WORTH A BET OF COURSE..

⭕ 6.20 Lingfield Richard Hughes and jockey Finley Marsh hope to follow up The Thames Boatman’s 2024 win in this 5f handicap with Knebworth, one for the money this morning.

Knebworth and Marsh had back-to-back wins in the summer of 2023 and he returns to a track where his record is 112.
