DAQMAN IN THE LOOP AT 14-1: Daqman made a fine start to the weekend, Flat and Jumps, with a 9-4 nap and a 20.0 BETDAQ strike (SP 14-1) yesterday.

Friday: 45.85 profit on the day
FINE INTERVIEW WON 7-2
ALNILAM WON 9-4 nap
LELOOPA WON 14-1 (BETDAQ 20.0)

TODAY: Bets at three big meetings (Cheltenham, Doncaster and Newbury) and a late-night winner at Wolverhampton.

McCONNELL STABLE SUPREME

⭕ 1.45 Cheltenham This novices’ hurdle is a hot race for favourites (6-9) with no winner in the decade bigger than 7-2 SP. John McConnell (11041) has landed three winners in five seasons.

Minella Supreme (BETDAQ 8.7), his sole raider at the two-day meeting, has to contend with Pour Les Filles, one of nine at the meeting for fellow Meath trainer Gordon Elliott.

But the mystery of the Longwood stable’s form persists: after five in a row at the American Grand National meeting, Elliott’s home results – 17 losers on the trot – reveal limited support, with nine of them starting between 11-1 and 40-1.

THE SHORT GO HAT-TRICK BID

⭕ 2.20 Cheltenham Henry De Bromhead has won the last two runnings of this 3m 1f handicap chase at 11-1 and 12-1. No wonder The Short Go is shorter this morning.

Runner-up in this last year to stablemate Senior Chief, afterwards not disgraced sixth in the Grand National, while The Short Go himself was fifth in the Ultima at the Festival. BETDAQ 5.7.

MURPHY OPENS THE BATTING

⭕ 1.30 Doncaster Oisin Murphy was called in last year for Jer Batt in this opener on Town Moor. They were just caught on soft ground on 91. Down 4lb and cheekpieces first time today: BETDAQ 5.9

Rosario doesn’t like the start and doesn’t like other horses around him, but is down to a winning mark.

Third here in the Portland and second at Ascot on soft three weeks ago, the visor needs to focus him from the ‘off.’

Solar Acclaim, winner after downpours at Chester and York in the summer, likes it boggy and has scored for Kevin Stott. Betdaq Betting Exchange 8.6.

RUNNING ‘EM INTO THE GROUND

⭕ 2.05 Doncaster (Futurity Trophy) Aidan O’Brien is six short of his record 28 Group-1 strikes in a year.

So the Ballydoyle blunderbuss intends bagging top-level wins this weekend from three runners in this and nine in three races at Saint-Cloud tomorrow (going ‘very soft’).

The Dirty Dozen starts with three of the five in the Futurity, with Andrew Balding’s Item withdrawn because of the soft ground.

So it is that Aidan O’Brien seems sure to emulate dual Derby star Auguste Rodin (2022) with an 11th Futurity but, apart from bossing a stable gallop in the mud, the winner will solve nothing about next year’s Derby puzzle unless they water Epsom for a week!

For the record, Benevenuto Cellini (by Frankel) has won the Champions Juvenile at Leopardstown but the form has not worked out.

Hawk Mountain (Wootton Bassett) won the Beresford; Action was second in the Royal Lodge; Oxagon was fifth in the Dewhurst for Team Gosden and is the likely improver.

Hawk Mountain (BETDAQ 4.3) has the soft-ground form but only one thing is certain: no English jockey will win it. Four of the five are Irish and the likely favorite, Benvenuto Cellini, is ridden by a Belgian.

WISDOM ANOTHER APPLEBY ACE

⭕ 3.45 Newbury (St Simon Stakes) Last year’s Futurity winner, runner-up first time gelded at Goodwood, Ancient Wisdom runs for Charlie Appleby whose current form figures are 111132111. BETDAQ 4.7.

William Haggas saddles two old-timers that have won at this Group-3 level but both are vulnerable.

Al Aasy (aged 8) has never scored on soft and Hamish (aged 9) has been reassessed downwards a couple of pounds, having won only at Listed level this year.

The bad-ground lover Starzintheireyes made a late reappearance last month and Sea Scout, who has an identical rating, has been running well on the soft in France. BETDAQ 21.0.

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
