DAQMAN IN FORM FOR GOLD CUP DAY: Daqman named the one-two in the big race of the opening day at Cheltenham yesterday, siding with the 100-30 winner. Today’s Autumn Gold Cup is a weak renewal so an open race and Daqman goes for bull’s-eye bets at value BETDAQ offers!
Friday

WON (w/p 3rd 12-1) KING’S BUCKS
Thursday
WON 8-15 MOON OVER AMERICA (supernap)
WON 9-4 PESCATORIUS (BETDAQ 4.0)
ANOTHER SKELTON ATTACK
⭕ 2.20 Cheltenham (Autumn Gold Cup) Paul Nicholls with last year’s winner, Il Ridoto, and Dan Skelton with two left in, clash in this £90k chase.
The master and his former assistant trainer shared the big money on the first day and laid out Festival targets, as L’Eau Du Sud won the Cheltenham Chase and No Drama This End set course for the big venue in the Albert Bartlett trial.
Il Ridoto reappeared at Chepstow in October as he did last year before going clear in this off a similar mark, besting his stablemate Ginnys Destiny, who was pulled up, a disappointing 3-1 favourite. Another flop in the race was Protektorat for the Skeltons.
They prepped strong-traveler Hoe Joly Smoke at the October meeting, third over further; but, though nine and on her first run back, the mare Panic Attack seems to be the stable pick as the mount of Harry Skelton.
Fourth to Stage Star on the new course here in 2023, then had a long break before joining Skelton and improving 15lb; four races in succession in the first three, then another long break.
No stand-out on that evidence but has to be feared; the way L’Eau Du Sud was primed yesterday was absolutely spot on.
Similarly, Vincenzo (second in the Greatwood) is with Sam Thomas, who has just totted up five out six, still standing.
Thecompanysergeant was three lengths Festival second in the Plate to Jagwar, withdrawn from today’s race.
Coming Up Easy has shot up nearly two stone for a hat-trick but the second home in his Killarney success, Dreal Deal, finished 45 lengths behind in the big race here yesterday.
Hunter Legend has won 3-4 at a lower level; Conyers Hill improved the last day for stepping up in trip; Bad is progressive at six, but paying for his improvement.
Overnight gamble Theatre Native is a course winner and Henry De Bromhead has booked Sean Bowen, whose ride on Wade Out here yesterday was Tony McCoy level.
DAQMAN’S VERDICT: Success over the trip and on the course combine with top riding and training skills in both Panic Attack (Betdaq Betting Exchange 9.9 taken) and Theatre Native (14.0).
KIKIJO THE DAY’S BEST BET
⭕ 2.55 Cheltenham Kikijo has a tasty mark and youth on his side from which to reveal that staying is really his game. The Hobbs stable laid out Sporting John to win this for me five years back.
Another for the Skeltons, Supremely West doesn’t have to prove it and has won on heavy ground.
⭕ 3.10 Wetherby Here’s a chance for Charlie Todd to shine for the Skelton stable on French import Lirone Du Seuil, related on the dam’s side to the remarkable Defi Du Seuil, winner of seven hurdle races in a row, including the Triumph at the Cheltenham Festival.
⭕ 3.30 Cheltenham The dark horse here is Last Rodeo, brought along slowly by a capable yard. Another with a light weight, hampered – late eyecatcher – at the last meeting. Harry Cobden booked yet BETDAQ 9.0.
