UDINESE v ROMA

7.45pm Monday Night Football from Europe comes from Serie A this week on Betdaq Betting Exchange as Udinese host Roma. This should be an intriguing game, and Roma are in a massive battle in the race for a top four finish too. A draw last weekend against AC Milan wasn’t the worst result, but Juventus are clearly going to be applying a lot of pressure. They come into the matchday sitting in fifth spot, but they currently have the second best attacking figure in Serie A and you’d expect them to move into the top four as the season goes on. You also have Napoli behind Roma too, and they will have all their focus on Serie A after getting knocked out of the Champions League last week.

Udinese are a mid-table Serie A side, but I feel we can say that if Roma want to hold onto a top four spot come the end of the season, they have to be winning games like this. Roma come into the game as the marginal odds on favourites at 1.99 with Udinese 4.5 and the draw is 3.45 at the time of writing. They won 2-0 when the sides met earlier in the season, and to be honest they have been playing some very good football all season. They have the third best attacking figure with an average xG created of 1.62 – only Inter Milan and Juventus have been creating more. They’ve also been impressive at the back too; an average xG conceded of 1.15 is very good.

Udinese sit in mid-table, and that’s very much in line with their performance levels. They are just marginally conceding more than they are creating, and that generally puts you in mid-table in most of Europe’s elite leagues. There’s only 0.05 in the difference between attack and defence – an average xG created of 1.32 isn’t going to scare most sides. The big positive from a Udinese point of view here is home advantage; they have been a lot more solid at the back at home compared to away. At home, their average xG conceded is only 1.18 whereas away from home it rises up to 1.57.

Clearly Udinese are a lot more reliable at home, but I still feel that the 1.99 on Roma here is good value. I’d have them a little shorter, and while I’m not going to go crazy with the stakes given that they will very likely have to grind out a win, I do feel that the 1.99 is too big to turn down. Two points feels the right stake and hopefully we get off to a winning start to the week!
