We have an interesting clash as Union Berlin host Eintracht Frankfurt, with the two sides sitting beside each other in the table. There’s actually very little between these sides – there’s only three points between them and their under-lining numbers are very similar. With home advantage, it’s no surprise to see Union Berlin come into the game as the favourites at 2.2 with Eintracht Frankfurt 3.6 and the draw is 3.65 at the time of writing.
Frankfurt crashed out of the Champions League last week, but they have been one of the most entertaining sides to watch in the Bundesliga this season. They are scoring an average of two goals a game, and conceding more! Their xG figures aren’t that bad – their average xG created is 1.41 – very close to Union Berlin at 1.39 – and defensively they’ve been conceding at 1.40 per game. The underlying numbers are remarkably similar between these two sides; 0.02 in attack and 0.01 on defence. Both sides have been quite sloppy at the back, both conceding more than they should.
I do feel it’s quite easy to be negative about both sides here given the volume of chances they have been conceding. Everything screams this will be a close game on paper though; I don’t have an issue with Union Berlin being the favourites but I do feel that the 2.2 is a little short. I expect a closer game than those odds suggest, and I couldn’t put anyone off the home lay here from a value point of view. However, I’m happy to stay out of the match odds market here because this game screams goals in my opinion.
Over 2.5 goals is trading 1.96 and Both Teams To Score is 1.81 – I couldn’t put anyone off either bet. With both sides creating similar amounts of chances and conceding at similar rates, I’d expect a competitive game here but it’s highly likely to have a lot of mistakes at the back. This one has all the makings of an entertaining Bundesliga affair with goals at both ends – Frankfurt games have been packed with goals this season. Over 2.5 backers have collected in 14 of their 20 Bundesliga games this season, and the 1.96 looks cracking value to extend that stat. I actually feel we’re getting enough value for a Five Star NAP!
