PREMIER LEAGUE MONDAY: The Striker previews EVERTON v MANCHESTER UNITED with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
EVERTON v MANCHESTER UNITED
8pm We have a cracking Monday Night Football from the Premier League on Betdaq Betting Exchange! Everton host Manchester United at the Hill Dickinson; we had plenty of drama when the sides met earlier in the season at Old Trafford. Everton went down to ten men for fighting between themselves, and then scored to somehow manage to hold onto a 1-0 lead. David Moyes obviously faces his former club here too; United’s first ever visit to the new ground – plenty of sub-plots and we have an interesting market too. Manchester United come into the game as the favourites at 2.02 with Everton 3.8 and the draw is 3.95 at the time of writing.
It must have been quite a boring few days for United fans – no FA Cup fixture last weekend, and then having to wait until Monday Night Football. Knocked out of both domestic cups at the earliest possible stage – and with no European football at Old Trafford for the first time since 2014‑15 – United are set to play their fewest number of fixtures this season since 1914‑15, over 110 years ago. Quite the stat, and while obviously United fans are buzzing with Carrick at the moment, there’s still a tonne of work to do. United have been doing the same cycle for years now and expecting different results! Both teams will actually be coming into Monday’s game off the back of a near two-week break, with neither side involved in the FA Cup last weekend following their respective third-round exits. It’s a rare period of rest at this time of the season!
United’s form under Carrick has been genuinely impressive. Although there were a tonne of positive signs under Ruben Amorim. Their average xG created of 1.78 is the best attacking figure in the Premier League – how many years has it been since we said that about a United side. The concern, as always with this United side, is at the back – their average xG conceded of 1.29 is OK – it’s the fifth best defensive figure in the Premier League – but they still make far too many sloppy mistakes at the back. I feel like that’s the next thing they need to fix. Everton have been a solid mid-table standard for much of the season under Moyes in his second spell at the club; they have been strong at home under Moyes since he came back, but they are going through a tough run.
They are without a win in their last five home games, they come into this on the back of a 2-1 home defeat to Bournemouth last time out. Everton have an average xG created of 1.29 which isn’t overly impressive, but you know United will give them chances at some stage. United are a little big at 2.02 in my opinion. I’d actually have them a little shorter and a shade of odds on given how well they have been playing and how poor Everton’s home recent form has been. We should have an entertaining game though, and Over 2.5 goals is also an option at 1.76 – I couldn’t put anyone off that bet but I do feel the United price offers more value. I’m not going to go crazy with the stakes given United haven’t exactly been the most reliable side this season, but they can get the job done here and 2.02 is too big to ignore.
