⭕ 2.42 Lingfield (AW Championship Fillies And Mares Trial) Charlie Appleby’s run came to a painful end (for me) early in the week at Wolverhampton when my nap, City Queen, couldn’t catch Pendella, first leg of 3-4 for Karl Burke in three days’ racing.
Burke’s best chance today could be Party Bear, CD winner here at Lingfield in January but whose saddle slipped when trying to cash in on that form at Newcastle two weeks’ back. BETDAQ 9.6 taken.
Penelope Valentine is raised sharply in class but Lady Manzor won the All-Weather Vase here last Spring and Tom Marquand takes over. BETDAQ 14.0.
JUST WILD ABOUT HARRY..
⭕ 3.12 Lingfield (AW Sprint Championship Trial) Low numbers in the draw, a horse that goes well fresh, a trainer in form.
Fast Track Harry has all the credentials. He landed a gamble first time last Spring and went on to run well in higher grade at York and Ascot.
The Clive Cox yard is looking for him to seal a stable hat-trick, after 2-2 in the last week, on his first run after being gelded. BETDAQ 7.9.
NICHOLLS STILL YOUR MAN
⭕ 3.35 Newbury Paul Nicholls is staging a revival and has won this three times in four seasons, with a progressive six-year-old, and here’s another one.
Talk To The Man went well clear at Taunton, overturning an odds-on favourite -previously trained by Nicholls – who had scored 12 lengths at Ayr.
Stablemate Mulinas must be the Nicholls second string on the limited form shown to date.
With a strong background in Irish Points, The Big Clubman has won a maiden and finished second in a Grade 3.
Buddy Holly has shaped well until bogged down in the mud at Ffos Las but I guess that doesn’t matter any more.
CALL HOBBS HOME AGAIN
⭕ 4.43 Newbury A tasty class-3 hurdle, with the Philip Hobbs team going for a repeat of last year’s 5-1 success with today’s contender never out of the first four in seven races under rules.
But, though Call Me Legend goes for a hat-trick here, the Milan gelding has had only a few pounds added to his rating in four starts, with both recent wins lower level than today.
Similarly, Kruger Park has won and been placed three times since the Spring of 2024 but is just 2lb higher today.
Big City Roller is a big, galloping sort who has done best over fences on deepish ground but reverts to hurdles here.
Peacenik is another with a long stride, eight times in the first three, but stepping up to 3m, which puts his prominent style to a big test.
