WEDNESDAY IPL: The Edge previews Royal Challengers Bengaluru v Lucknow Super Giants with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru v Lucknow Super Giants
MATCH OVERVIEW:
The IPL rolls on as Royal Challengers Bengaluru host Lucknow Super Giants at the Chinnaswamy on Wednesday on Betdaq Betting Exchange ! RCB enter this one in tremendous form, and their batting has been superb thus far. Four games, and they’ve scored over 200 every single time. They lost to Rajasthan Royals as they chased down 201/8 but batting first they have already posted scores of 250 and 240! RCB look a formidable outfit – the defending champions are playing like defending champions! The only slight concern is their bowling – obviously they have been involved in some high scoring games. Not only have the scored over 200 every time, they’ve also conceded over 200 every time!
Lucknow Super Giants have won two from four games which puts them in mid-table. Their games have been “low scoring” by RCB standards. Is a 160-165 game low scoring by IPL standards these days? I think it is! Lucknow’s home ground has been difficult to bat at, and they have won impressively on the road, replicating that away form at the Chinnaswamy is a different challenge entirely. Rishabh Pant – the most expensive player in IPL history – needs a big score here for his team to fire. It would also be a good time for Pooran to fire – surely he will enjoy the conditions here.
RCB have basically ticked most of their boxes this season, but while they are the clear favourites here, I have always felt the Chinnaswamy conditions brought sides closer together because anyone can turn the game with some big hitting. Perhaps it’s why they had to wait so long for a title. Lucknow will be hoping some of their middle order do just that.
WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:
We are back at the iconic Chinnaswamy, and you know what to expect here – it is a batter’s paradise. The pitch is typically flat, offering good bounce and carry, and the short boundaries and fast outfield make this venue a nightmare for bowlers. They have done work on the drainage in recent years which has made the wicket offer some turn at times, but nine times out our ten this is a high scoring venue. The first inning scores have been 201/9 (chased) and 250/3 (won). Dew is obviously a big factor here to watch for, but it’s hard not to expect another high scoring game.
RECOMMENDED BET:
As I said above, RCB come into the game as the clear favourites. 1.68 is a short price IPL wise because the franchises are so competitive. In the form they are in, it is hard to make a case against them, but the 1.68 doesn’t exactly jump off the page as value. Indeed, I actually feel it’s a little short. Obviously their batting has been exceptionally good, but their bowlers have gone for 200+ a game too. Lucknow need their stars to fire, but in very good batting conditions they will have the platform to do that. I’m happy with a small bet from a value point of view.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:
This is one of the most high-scoring venues in the IPL, and both sides carry serious batting firepower. Given RCB’s depth with the bat and while we need Lucknow’s stars in the middle over to fire, the best in-running angle is likely to support the batting side in both innings here. It’s not a venue to be on the bowlers for long! Obviously if we get dew, that will add to the nightmare for the bowlers too.
