Delhi Capitals v Chennai Super Kings

MATCH OVERVIEW:

The IPL rolls on as Delhi Capitals host Chennai Super Kings at the Arun Jaitley on Tuesday on Betdaq Betting Exchange ! We’re into the second month of the IPL now, and I feel it’s fair to call this a must win game for both sides as they look to tag onto the sides in the mix for playoff spots. Delhi Capitals have had a topsy-turvy season but arrive here on the back of a stunning win; chasing down 225 against Rajasthan Royals. That win snapped a three match losing streak and has breathed life back into their playoff push. Both sides have won four of their nine games, but they are still four points off the top four.

The winner here will have a chance to break into the mix for a playoff spot, while I would suggest any hopes of reaching the playoffs is gone for the loser. High stakes game then! CSK come into the game with momentum, they have been on an upward trajectory after a terrible start to the season losing their first three. Particularly as they finished bottom last season too, it looked bad for CSK but to be fair to them they have found their feet in recent weeks, winning four of their last six games including a superb hammering over Mumbai Indians a few days ago. Sanju Samson has finally found his touch and Ruturaj Gaikwad backed it up last time out too – they need the openers to fire because the middle order looks while weak.

Delhi will have to get over the fact that they were absolutely demolished in their last home game, bowled out for just 75 against RCB when Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar tore through them in conditions that suited the pacers. It will be interesting to see what conditions we get here, and will the bowlers be on top again. A very interesting game awaits, massive for both sides.

WEATHER AND PITCH WATCH:

Air quality isn’t great in Delhi at the best of times, and May is absolutely baking – temperatures during the day have been touching 40°C and beyond, with the Indian heatwave well and truly in full swing. The Arun Jaitley wicket is generally batting friendly with short boundaries – the square boundaries are around 60-65 metres – and the surface offers good pace and carry. However, the pitch can slow down over the course of the game. We had had some crazy high scores here in recent years, but obviously we also had the 75 all out for Delhi here in the last game! In the game before that, the first inning score was 264/2 which was chased down! Fair to say it’s a good plan to go into this game with an open mind on what a par score is.

RECOMMENDED BET:

There’s obviously positives and negatives for both sides here – they both sit in mid-table with the same record, and they’ve both had their issues. It’s no surprise that we have such an even market here – indeed both sides are exceptionally close with CSK 1.98 and Delhi Capitals 1.98. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the market flip-flop a few times before the off. This is a genuinely difficult game to call, and I would recommend low stakes here. Inconsistency is a real concern for both sides to be honest, but on balance I do feel that Delhi are a little strong on paper, and I’m going to side with a small bet on the home side.

IN-RUNNING STRATEGY:

It will be interesting to see do we get a dew here – it’s not always the case here. Obviously we’ve also had a huge range of scores here so it’s hard to say whether batting first or second is a massive edge. I would lean towards the chasing side just because we saw 264 chased and then a side rolled for 75 all out. I feel this game will bounce around a lot, and I wouldn’t get married to be a position early. I’m keen to take on the CSK middle order as they look a bit weak here – happy to do that in either innings.
