DAQMAN ON TUESDAY: Daqman keeps the stakes low on a quiet Tuesday of racing with selections from Leicester, Redcar and Bath. Sweltering conditions could lead to a plethora of non runners across the country with the list hitting double digits by 9am.
CROWN LOOKS THE JEWEL
⭕ 3.10 Leicester One significant non runner is Seet for the Gosdens who followed up a promising Newbury debut to win well at Wolverhampton last time out.
That leaves this fillies novice event with a more open look but it’s definitely a race to keep an eye on as it will surely turn out to be better than the official class 4?
It looks now left to a battle between the two progressive sorts Crownright and Caim with preference for the Ralph Beckett trained Crownright who has some experience on the faster surface.
Her Ascot second to So Regal earlier in the month looks rock solid form, especially since So Regal went on to finish a good second to Lilt in a Listed race at York’s Dante meeting.
That leaves Caim with quite a big target on her first start for 213 days and the Edward Bethell stable could also be in better form. Her encouraging Newbury Listed second to Leading Dancer back in October was run on soft ground but it will be the polar opposite conditions today.
OUT OF THE SHADOWS
⭕ 3.50 Redcar Just the six runners to unravel here but I want to be against the on Betdaq Betting Exchange likely market leader Classic Encounter – despite him being dropped in grade. A course and distance winner last season he has struggled for a win since and still looks a little high in the weights.
I’ll take a chance with the Godolphin runner Desert Shadow who put together solid back to back efforts just under a year ago with second placed efforts at Sandown and Beverley. His two starts since can probably be excused – outclassed at Meydan and may have needed the spin at Southwell last month on a surface on which he has never shown his best form.
He’s down 2lb in the weights, has a visor on for the first and it’s a fresh start for him today.
WORD IS FOR CORRESPONDENCE
⭕ 4.00 Bath Correspondence relished the quick conditions at Windsor last time and has every chance of following up in this company despite the 5lb hike in the weights. He holds both Danger Alert (4th) and Over Spiced (5th) on that form.
Level Up is consistent but struggling for a win and looks harshly hiked 4lb for her course and distance second in April.
Candy Warhol is the complete outsider and another bridesmaid but his course effort last time was solid form and I’ll include him as he looks over-priced.
