DAME TO SHADE IT

⭕ 4.40 Newbury This should be a benefit for the Gosdens, though not necessarily in the order that the Betdaq Betting Exchange might suggest.

Miss Scott reappears (under a penalty) after her smooth Leicester win 262 days ago and is clearly a nice prospect but in receipt of 7lb stable companion Shady Dame already has better form in the book – although has a similar lengthy absence to overcome.

With long term absentees it often helps to look at the market but in this case BOTH runners have been positive in morning trade!

Miss Scott beat Sydney Rock at Leicester but that one hasn’t run again since – however the third, Kaori, did nothing to advertise the form when last of six at Lingfield earlier this month.

In contrast, Shady Dame has been pitched in at a much deeper level. She was a promising runner-up in a class 2 at Newbury on debut and then finished sixth in the Group 3 Oh So Sharp Stakes at Newmarket.

Putting the form and prices side by side Shady Dame is taken to shade it.

NOT A MYTHICAL NAP

⭕ 5.15 Newbury It could well be soft ground by the time this 1m 4f handicap is run. It’s good to soft pre-racing but plenty of further rain is expected to fall.

Conditions should suit the experienced Mythical Bay who faced soft on debut at Bath. He has gone on to run well both on turf and the all-weather – notably at Chester in May when he chased home Magnetude who made all to win a class 3.

This class 4 looks easier and he should be able to outclass both Barrister (handicap debutant who has been soundly beaten on last two starts) and Irish raider Honouramongthieves.

BALLY WHO?

⭕ 7.00 Leopardstown (Ballycorus Stakes Group 3) British raider Native Warrior who ran inexplicably poorly when seventh of eight in a Listed race at Naas last time out looks very short to bounce back.

I’m just not sure he’s at the same level of form that saw him win back to back races at Ascot last season and prefer to take a chance at much bigger odds with East Hampton (big run when runner-up in Listed Gladness Stakes last time out) and Henry De Bromhead’s filly Wannabe Royal who popped up at 33/1 to win a Listed race at Naas last month.

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
