CURRAGH: They race on heavy ground at the Curragh this afternoon. It’s an additional meeting and admission is free. Shamrock has two bets on the card.
Muntasaf couldn’t have gone closer on debut – he was beaten a nose by Lordhighprotector on heavy ground at Listowel. The value of the form is hard to weigh up given that the winner, who was having his second start, showed little on debut and hasn’t run since.
The pair did however finish nine and a half lengths clear of the third placed runner and whilst the bare form is probably nothing exceptional – the Dermot Weld trained Muntasaf should improve enough from that run to prove hard to beat in the 2.15 at the Curragh this afternoon. The form on offer from those with experience looks modest so the newcomers will probably pose the biggest threats.
We’re getting around evens on BETDAQ which looks reasonable enough.
Fast On hasn’t won in 13 starts but has gone close, including last time out here at the Curragh. I like his chance in the 2.45 against mainly out of form rivals but the play must be win and place as an insurance as I do feel the grey will be at least placed.
SHAMROCK’S BETS
