He now previews tonight’s match between Mallorca v Real Madrid

LA LIGA PREVIEW: Mallorca v Real Madrid.
Live on Sky Sports: Sunday 20.30pm

Welcome to Mallorca…not!
All eyes may be on the EPL today with a couple of feisty big rival clashes including Everton v Liverpool and Chelski v Man. United but with sunglasses at the ready my attentions have been drawn to the much warmer climate of the Mediterranean. Tonight Real Madrid fly into Palma however they will not be receiving the same warm welcome that many of this Island’s tourists receive on their annual visit to this beautiful Balearic island!

Capital Rivals..
Week nine of La Liga and it is Real’s city rivals, Atletico Madrid, who are putting it up to Barcelona at the top and today ‘Los Colchoneros’ will be expecting to maintain their lofty and deserved position by collecting another three points when they entertain bottom club Osasauna. Atl. Madrid are on a run of eleven! straight wins in all competitions so if you decide to lay them, well, best of luck.

FC Barcelona picked up an expected three points at another Madrid club, Rayo Vallecano, on Saturday night and Jose Mourinho knows that nothing less than three points tonight for ‘Los Blancos’ or it could be adios to their league title.

Higuain…a left-back?!
“Higuain WILL play at left-back against Mallorca” so said Mourinho in his pre-match press conference. I have heard the Madrid coach make some strange statements in his day but this is incredible. Like FCB, Real are going through a bad injury crisis in defense and the fact that the Argentinean striker starts at left back is proof of their plight. Sergio Ramos is reported to not have trained but must play however with the excellent Pepe and the versatile Raul Albiol set to start then the islanders won’t exactly have it easy although will obviously target Higuain on his left-back debut.

Jose ‘luvs’ Mallorca
Like those tee-shorts that you will see in the world’s tourist destinations such as ‘I Luv Mallorca’ I have a feeling Jose and his ‘Los Blancos’ will be buying a few up at the airport for their kids after they pick up three points at the Son Moix stadium. For the few the defensive issues the Madrid club are having it is in the other areas of the pitch that the champions will prosper against what I feel is an awful Mallorca side. Mallorca Manager, Joaquin Caparros, is bringing his side into this game on the back of three straight defeats including an embarrassing two one home reverse to lowly Granada. They are known for having a decent record on their Island but not against Real Madrid. Mallorca do possess a half decent goal threat in the likes of Victor and Israel International Tomer Hemed but if Sergio Ramos can remain concentrated on the football issues at hand they should easily be snuffed out.

One goal or two…
I expect Real Madrid to take all three points on the road tonight. They will have too much offensively for their hosts particularly in midfield controlled by Alonso/Essien and Ozil/Modric and should easily be able to carve open goal scoring opportunities for the Ronaldo, Benzema combination. Ganzalo Higuain may be a slight point of weakness in the eyes of the Mallorca team but it is the other Real Madrid strikers for which they should be more concentrated on tonight.
