PREVIEW

The Copa America was blown wide open over the weekend as the two favourites bowed out on penalties. Fernando Muslera proved Uruguay’s hero in goal as the keeper saved Carlos Tevez’s penalty, while Brazil inexplicably missed all four spot-kicks to crash out 0-2 to Paraguay.

Following that surprise victory, La Celeste are now standout favourites for the competition and are currently trading at around 1.99 on the ‘Daq’. Having taken an early lead against the hosts, Gonzalo Higuain equalised before Diego Perez was then given his marching orders. Uruguay had to play the majority of the game a man down, before Argentina’s Javier Mascherano’s dismissal evened things up late on.

The Peruvians will also be feeling the effects of their quarter-final as they needed the grueling extra time period to get the better of Colombia. Even though Uruguay played with ten men for much of their weekend fixture, they are still available at 1.79 to win in 90 minutes.

Peru have reveled in the underdog role in the competition, but beating Uruguay looks a step too far. Óscar Tabárez’s side have been in great defensive form and have not conceded more than one goal in their last six games. At the other end of the pitch, the class of Diego Forlan and Luis Suarez should prove the difference.

RECOMMENDATION: (1-10 points)
Back Uruguay at 1.79: 6 points

Sunday’s Return: -6 points
