Borussia Dortmund are the only unbeaten side left in the Champions League and they will need no reminders on how important it is to preserve that record tonight when they host Real Madrid in the first leg of their semi-final.
Bayern Munich did their bit for Germany last night with a 4-0 demolition job over Barcelona to ensure the first all-German final remains a real possibility.
Dortmund were no match for Munich in the league – surrendering their title last month – but have impressed in this competition as they bid to follow in the footsteps of those who landed the trophy for the club in 1997.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have already played Madrid twice this season in the group stages and won here at Westfalenstadion 2-1 before conceding a last minute equaliser at the Bernabeu in a 2-2 draw.
Jose Mourinho has made no secret of his desire to become the first manager to lift the European Cup with three different clubs, 11 years after Madrid won their last, in what is likely to be his final season at the Spanish giants. In the end they made hard work of beating Galatasaray in the quarter-finals, losing 3-2 in Turkey after a late scare.
However, that was nothing compared to Dortmund who needed two injury time goals to see off Malaga in the last round. They’ll need to improve on that performance later but, even so, it’s a surprise to see the pair trading at the same price – around 2.75 on BETDAQ.
