PREVIEW
It’s a huge game at Stamford Bridge later with London rivals Chelsea and Tottenham battling it out as they try and secure a top four finish and a place in the Champions League next season. In-form Chelsea will surely secure their place with a win and then Tottenham will find themselves looking at a Europa League spot, which would be a disappointing end to the season for the north Londoners.
Rafael Benitez’s hosts have won seven of their last ten league games, losing just two, to move up to third in the table while Spurs have won only three of their last seven games. As ever they have been reliant on PFA Player of the Year Gareth Bale who hit a late winner versus Southampton on the weekend.
Chelsea became only the third team to win at Old Trafford in the league this season when a late goal gave them victory over the champions on Sunday. They haven’t lost in 22 home games against their rivals tonight, winning 16, and the Blues are after a seventh successive home win in all competitions.
Bale has 11 goals in his last 11 games so is feared but if the home defence can keep him quiet then Chelsea should win this. Tottenham have showed weakness of late and their lack of striking options leaves them reliant on Bale. Their poor record in west London is another major turn off.
