2000 GUINEAS: A blank day in Ireland today so SHAMROCK looks ahead to Saturday’s 2000 Guineas at the Curragh and the BETDAQ ante-post market.
It’s a blank day of Irish racing and SHAMROCK had a blank day yesterday too after his nap Lady Giselle was withdrawn at the start at Roscommon after an injury to the jockey.
It’s a wide open 2000 Guineas early market on BETDAQ with Cristoforo Colombo the current favourite.
He did best of the three Aidan O’Brien trio in the Newmarket 2000 Guineas when finishing fifth to Dawn Approach with stablemate Mars just behind running a great race on what was his debut on turf after a Dundalk maiden win.
The story of the race would undoubtedly be a success for Fort Knox who bids to give Johnny Murtagh a dream start to his training career.
The multiple Group One-winning jockey has been assisting Tommy Carmody for the past couple of seasons, with a string for prominent owner Andrew Tinkler at Murtagh’s Curragh yard.
Murtagh has now taken over the reins, but Fort Knox no longer runs in Tinker’s colours as after an impressive win in a Guineas trial at Leopardstown he was bought by Sheikh Mohammed and will run in the famous maroon and white silks at the weekend.
