WEXFORD and BELLEWSTOWN: Two Irish cards on Friday. SHAMROCK’s NAP runs at Wexford.
Back to the jumping on Friday and in the 5.40 at Wexford, a maiden hurdle, I’m keen on the chances of Ciarans Oscar who is around 3.5 on BETDAQ at the time of writing.
The five-year-old has run his two best races here at Wexford and seemed to relish the firmer surface last time out when travelling well but just finding Fromthecloudsabove too good in the closing stages.
That was over three miles and the drop back in distance today should suit.
Castletimon is going the other way as regards distance. He is stepping up to two and half miles after a couple of good placed efforts and rates the biggest danger.
At Bellewstown, Silver Lightening might be worth taking on again. He has proved costly to follow since a promising debut on softer ground and on the quicker ground tonight might be vulnerable to the lightly raced Banker Burke who showed ability when third at Limerick last time out.
SELECTIONS:
NAP: Ciaran’s Oscar (5.40 Wexford)
NEXT BEST: Banker Burke (5.20 Bellewstown)
