BLUE IS THE COLOUR: SHAMROCK heads to Galway on Monday as he bids to start a new week with a winning NAP in the maiden fillies race at 5.15pm.
I was in two minds about napping Colour Blue in the 5.15 at Galway tonight.
Not that I don’t think her form is good enough – far from it. I think she stands out on proven form so far, but the problem might be the presence of some nicely bred debutants.
As always it’s a balancing act but with Colour Blue already on a rating of 86 – the newcomers would have to be above average to win on debut and on the plus side Colour Blue is one of the most experienced fillies in the line up.
All four of her races to date have come over six furlongs (and all been on good to firm ground) and the step-up to the seven furlong trip tonight might well be the key to her losing her maiden tag.
Her standout line of form is clearly her fourth place in a Group 3 at the Curragh won by Bye Bye Birdie and anything close to that form should be more than enough for her to strike here.
The current 3.6 on BETDAQ is quite tempting, the market also suggesting that the Dermot Weld trained Vote Often will be the best of the newcomers.
