I thought Newcastle might get something from Old Trafford and that turned out to be the case, although they were somewhat fortunate with the penalty decision. Alan Pardew’s men were yet again impressive at the back and put their bodies on the line whenever they were called upon.

The third of a monstrous run sees Chelsea visit St James’ Park and it’s going to be interesting to see how much they have left in the tank after a difficult few weeks.

During the week Chelsea suffered a third defeat in four games and the pressure is starting to mount on Andre Villas-Boas. Liverpool benefitted from some poor defending on Tuesday night, but you can expect things to be much tighter on Tyneside.

The Blues have had a decent record over the years at St James’ Park and if they go back to the basics I fancy them to get the win. Chelsea haven’t been far off the mark and a win on Saturday lunchtime could be just what the club needs for a run of victories.

After last’s weekend’s disappointing result, Sir Alex will be looking to bounce back at Villa Park for the late Saturday kick-off. United have suffered a couple of poor results on their own turf, but their form on their travels remains very strong.

Villa have lost their past two games, but they did pick up three points when Norwich visited. The Canaries pushed Villa all the way and Steve Morrison’s second half goal made for a nervy finish.

Since that result Villa haven’t found the back of the net in two games and against a solid United backline, which spells trouble. United have been held in their past three league visits, but I fancy them to end that run here and they’re worth backing at 1.75 on BETDAQ.

After Liverpool’s great win at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday evening, Kenny Dollish takes his side back to West London. This time the Reds play at Craven Cottage and it’s always a tough game. Both clubs will be thankful for the extra days rest after the midweek action and I reckon this will be a tight contest.

We’ve seen Liverpool really step up to the plate for the big games this season, but they seem to struggle against some of the smaller sides. Swansea and Norwich took points off the Reds and I fancy Fulham to do the same. Martin Jol’s side are not winning enough games at Craven Cottage, but they have the ability to frustrate Liverpool.
