NAPS KING DAQMAN TURNS TO THE JUMPS: Daqman has been in top form this week, with three naps to take his best-bets total to 100. Now he’s turning his attack on the Jumps, with big races at Exeter today and at Aintree and Wincanton tomorrow, alongside his final fling in the November Handicap..

TODAY: The Haldon Gold Cup
TOMORROW: Final big race of the Flat season
NEXT WEEK: Daqman’s six-point plan for the Jumps season

NICHOLLS HAS TWO WRAPPED UP

⭕ 12.35 Exeter Paul Nicholls’ form was hit and miss when Wrappedupinmay, a winner on soft-heavy, made his seasonal debut in mid-October.

But Ditcheat’s form since then includes eight winners in the last 12 days and he has a 50% win rate in this novices’ hurdle since 2016.

⭕ 2.55 Exeter Stay Away Fay will make an ‘awesome chaser’ said Nicholls of his Albert Bartlett winner at Cheltenham in March. ‘Stay Away will stay all day’ is another epithet from the yard.

He’s expected to make a successful switch from hurdling, particularly with Grey Dawning unlikely to be punished on his first round since he fell over the smaller obstacles at Aintree when Stay Away Fay was fourth.

.. BUT MOUSE SETS SECOND TRAP

⭕ 3.30 Exeter (Haldon Gold Cup Handicap) This is as hot a race as you can get outside the premier tracks, with bigger prizemoney than tomorrow’s Badger Beer Chase at Wincanton.

Paul Nicholls has farmed today’s feature with quality winners (3 out of 6), including Politologue, for whom this was the first leg of a treble landed over Christmas 2017 with a 13-lengths romp in the Desert Orchid Chase at Kempton.

Today’s Nicholls’ selected is Solo, winner of the Pendil Novices Chase at Kempton in February, earning a 149 rating.

He has a 16lb pull on Editeur Du Gite, who won the same Desert Orchid race last Christmas and followed up by beating the Arkle winner, Edwardstone, in the Clarence House at Cheltenham in January.

Our Fethard friend, Mouse Morris has just brought over a potential star in Gentlemansgame, if he can reproduce his defeat of the Nicholl’s champion, Bravemansgame, and Midnight River in the £58,726-to-the-winner Charlie Hall Chase on Saturday.

Now Mouse tries to bag the Exeter ‘gold’ and another £47,552 with Indiana Jones, who landed back-to-back novice chases in the Spring and could now beat the Nicholls bragging horse for the second time inside a week.

Brave Seasca, who pulled off a hat-trick a couple of years back, scored first run back in a feature race at Aintree. Has had a wind op.

The Venetia Williams yard currently has form figures of 112131, three of the four winners in chases.

That leaves the pair from Joe Tizzard whose father used this race to launch Cue Card’s season in 2012. Joe has suddenly struck form with 3-4 on Monday between Plumpton and Hereford.

Graded-placed Elixir De Nutz is claimed off and has only 10st; seems sure to improve on his return at Chepstow but doesn’t want more rain.

War Lord, out of the handicap today, was third in this race last year on ground that was too firm for him. Loves it soft and has had a wind op.

IBERIO IN HOBBS SEQUENCE

⭕ 4.00 Exeter It will be interesting to keep checking the market in this staying chase which opened with bookies last night with six horses all of a heap, three of them 11-2, three at 13-2.

Betdaq Betting Exchange was this morning offering Broomfield Present (5.0) and Iberio (6.6) ahead of the field.

This is a staying chase Philip Hobbs likes to win – four times in the decade, in fact – and so I’m expecting a bold show from Iberio, a hurdles winner on soft and on heavy ground.

He made his chasing debut here; found his stride too late, after surviving a blunder, to finish fourth in the Best Mate Chase in October.

⭕ 4.45 Newcastle The November Handicap, here tomorrow instead of at Doncaster, will be farewell to the Flat season.

Meanwhile, a final flutter or two today with two capable animals in sprints, both ‘hidden’ by recent reversals.

Rhythm N Hooves returns to AW where he was 2-3 in the Spring. He beat a big field of three-year-olds at Royal Ascot. BETDAQ 9.2

Bergerac has suddenly been given a 5lb helping hand by the handicapper, which means he’s 13lb down on this time last year. BETDAQ 10.0

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
