WITHOUT DOUBT IT WAS A SUPERNAPS DOUBLE: Daqman landed his double of supernaps at the Sandown evening meeting yesterday, with Vintage Brut making it three winners on the night.

WON 4-6 POET’S WORD (supernap)
WON 4-6 WITHOUT PAROLE (supernap)
WON 7-2 VINTAGE BRUT (2nd 8-1 Sabre)

NOW HE WANTS 45-1 RETURN FROM MULTIPLES: He tipped Sabre (8-1 second) in the same race as Vintage Brut (31-1 forecast with Ladbrokes), so today he is looking for a hot-shot and an outsider in each of four races at Goodwood and Haydock, and he fancies two of the pairings in (2 x 2) four BETDAQ doubles on Daq Multiples at around 45-1 the best double.

MAIN TARGET IS THE ASCOT DERBY

3.45 Goodwood (Cocked Hat Stakes) This is last-chance saloon for a date with the Derby next week. Not since Troy (1979) landed what was then called the Predominate Stakes has this race found the winner at Epsom. Then it really was a last-minute thing.

Dick Hern’s stable had had to concentrate its Derby efforts around the royal runner, Milford, until stablemate Troy beat Milford out of sight in a secret gallop at West Ilsley.

Geoff Wragg’s Asian Heights might have doubled up Goodwood and the 2001 Derby but was injured winning the Cocked Hat, and Rewilding (2010) finished third at Epsom and was a better horse later on.

Main Street today represents the Roaring Lion and Sevenna Star stable of John Gosden and Mark Johnston (Dee Ex Bee) saddles Lynwood Gold.

I can’t see anything supplementing for Epsom at this late date but Main Street and Highbrow will target the ‘Ascot Derby’ (King Edward V11 Stakes) at the royal meeting two weeks later.

Lynwood Gold, Bombyx and Perfect Illusion set their sights lower, for the two-mile Queen’s Vase instead, so you’d hope for a show of stamina today.

Main Street is American-bred for a man-made surface (and has duly won 2-2 on AW) but his sire did get an Arc winner, Carlton House, and a £10m earner in Winx!

John Gosden is going for his fifth winner of the Cocked Hat, with cocky jock, Frankie Dettori, also on four, so the 7.6 Main Street on BETDAQ is very tempting.

The 2.82 favourite this morning, Highbrow, currently has the better form, easy winner at Kempton late last year (Dee Stakes fourth behind) and third to a brace of Listed winners at Newmarket.

Snag is that in both those races, Gosden-trained nonentities were close up behind him, and Main Street seems sure to be well in front of those stablemates.

HAYLEY GETS ‘LADY’ ALLOWANCE

4.20 Goodwood George Bowen bounced clear of four-time winner Foolaad at York and it makes sense to run him again, with his claimer taking him to within a pound of his mark that day, albeit the rain has changed the ground.

It was soft and it was Goodwood when Lady Dancealot made all the running in the autumn, and she has three years of potential over George, who was 2.42 favourite this morning.

It looks like a clever move by in-form David Elsworth to take advantage of the three-year-old allowance on a track she loves, and with her rider, Hayley Turner, enjoying yet another lease of life in the saddle. Another big offer at 12.0 this morning in the BETDAQ orange.

4.40 Haydock Tom Dascombe has a massive level-stakes profit on his local track, where he is leading trainer, which all suggests that he doesn’t use the place just for fitness training.

In fact, this 4.40 is a race he’s won twice in four years from just two runners (in 2014 and last year), and No I’m Easy is unexposed at this new trip.

His pedigree says he’ll get it.well and he’s had a run back at another local gaffe, Chester, in his first handicap after contesting the Mill Reef Stakes last season. I took 7.8.

A mile handicap at the Ascot evening meeting a fortnight ago was hot. Six in the field won immediately before or after the race. Third home was Bacacarat (5.4 offers).

CHAMPAGNE COOL FOR FIZZY FRANKIE

4.55 Goodwood Another CD winner, Imphal, is perfectly placed to get Marcus Tregoning off the mark for the year from Elsworth’s former Whitsbury stables.

Imphal ran well at Ascot for seven-pounder, Tyler Sanders, and gets weight from his main rivals. You have to take it on trust that yesterday’s rain hasn’t spoiled the party.

But the dam is out of a soft-ground sire and the gelding should beat Gavlar, another Goodwood winner, who has these form figures with the word ‘soft’ in the going return: 0304040000.

Pointel will enjoy the surface and Medburn Cutler was runner-up in this race last year off an 8lb lower mark.

I’ll try 6.2 BETDAQ offer Uber Cool, four wins from seven starts and with a good lie from the one stall under Frankie Dettori, who is likely to be fizzy after a winner early on.

Uber Cool has won on firm and on heavy, and the 1m 6f winner twice should get the trip on this track. I doubt that Frankie will be hailing a cab up the hill.
