15.5 BETDAQ OUTSIDER HEADLINED: Daqman has four bets across the cards at three meetings today – Lingfield, Newbury and Musselburgh – ranging from a supernap to a 15.5 outsider. Headlines:

MASTER CAN CANE THIS FIELD
FIRE FIGHTING SET FOR REPEAT
TRIP IS RIGHT FOR NAVIGATOR

LOOK OUT FOR THE SATURDAY SHOW: Tomorrow Kelso rivals Newbury for the best horses in the Saturday jumps show – both meetings on terrestrial TV – but Naas takes over on Sunday with the Irish Lincolnshire and the Group-3 Park Express Stakes turning our attention to the Flat.

MASTER CAN CANE THIS FIELD

2.20 Newbury To have a maiden (both over hurdles and fences) leading the market is an encouragement to lay and look for something else: surely a rival with more purpose can beat Voie Dans Voie!

In winning two chases, Valhalla beat only four horses, being promoted in one of them after a disqualification.

Graceful Legend was a useful hurdler two years ago but has been placed without winning in four of her five tries over the bigger obstacles.

Maybe wind surgery will help the grey Valadom, 10lb lower than his last winning start back in November, 2016. Le Boizelo has reached the frame five times in 10 chases but won just the one.

Calivigny is high in the handicap after back-to-back wins in December. Carnspindle, a useful hurdler, has not looked happy over fences. Tanit River much prefers it soft.

Master Burbidge, a 15.5 BETDAQ offer this morning, has scored six times between February and Grand National time; it’s his time of year and conditions are right.

FIRE FIGHTING SET FOR REPEAT

3.50 Lingfield Disappointing turn-out numerically for a class 2 but marginally better than last year when Fire Fighting won it, off a 3lb lower mark but in fact carrying 2lb more in a weaker race.

His in-form trainer, Mark Johnston, has had a winner at each of the last two meetings on this course, when Fire Fighting (BETDAQ 5.2 this morning) was third in his first start since June. The eight-year-old’s strikes have all come within a week or two of his last race.

Petite Jack is a tricky ride – has to be saved until the final stride – handled well by James Doyle on the last day. But, in beating Exceeding Power a month ago under Sean Levey, he lugged into his rival and the positions were reversed by the Stewards.

Amazing Red needs further; Oasis Fantasy has won here but in a lower grade; and Maybe Today had a bridesmaid run of 23222, after breaking her maiden first time out. Both are bad signs.

TRIP IS RIGHT FOR NAVIGATOR

4.00 Newbury (Brown Chamberlin Trophy) Only one SP has been bigger than 5-1 about the winners of this race in the last eight years.

Air Navigator, offered early mouse at 6.4 on BETDAQ, is a big horse with a big stride yet won two bumpers. His chase career hasn’t been spectacular, winner just the once in four starts, though might have won another on the last day when he fell after taking the lead three out.

What could be greatly in his favour (and help the jumping) is this step up to 3m.

Kings Walk was a decent winner over hurdles (2m 5f) 12 months or so ago, and has kept his novice status over fences this year. Back to form on the last day when second to a well-treated opponent: if only Colin Tizzard (1-42) was in better form).

Chase-form figures of 2313, goodish ground and his hurdles winning jockey Aidan Coleman back on for the first time today. These are all pluses for Hurricane Dylan.

THE NAP: Lightly raced Tight Call is sent up from Welsh Wales to get his confidence back after a fall at Ascot a month back. I could get 7 for every 10 on BETDAQ this morning to supernap stakes.
