DAQMAN’S FRONTISPIECE TO SEPTEMBER BIG-RACE BOOKS: It’s the last day of the month and Daqman has news of the September big races at Ayr, Doncaster, The Curragh and Newmarket with five potential outsiders to look out for. Asked to pick one, he went for the chances of Frontispiece in the Cambridgeshire.

BULL’S-EYE BET CARRIES THE NAP IN SANDOWN SPRINT: Today Daqman asks Ryan Moore to show his skills at Sandown with a 50-point tilt at his mount in the sprint, seemingly with a bad draw to overcome.

FIVE TO MARK YOUR AUTUMN CARDS

Al Hilalee (Charlie Appleby) With his Dubawi colt Quorto likely to go for the National Stakes at the Curragh, Charlie Appleby could rely on Al Hilalee in the Champagne Stakes at Doncaster, September 15.

Held off a host of previous winners at Deauville a couple of weeks back and dropping down a furlong with cut in the ground will be ideal.

All The King’s Men (Aidan O’Brien) Given only hands and heels riding, unplaced in a big-field maiden at the Curragh in June. Doncaster sales race, September 13, or National Stakes at the Curragh, September 16.

Frontispiece (Sir Michael Stoute) Difficult to keep this colt together, and not seen out since the Spring, but he’s with the right handler.

Form figures first time and after a break are 112. The royal runner is entered in the Cambridgeshire (Newmarket, September 29).

Normandy Barriere (Nigel Tinkler) Form of 222 suggests a bridesmaid but not really the case, according to my man in the long grass. Is being aimed at the Ayr Gold Cup (September 22).

Zagitova (Aidan O’Brien) Lame after the race when slamming Bandiuc Eile more than four lengths in a Cork maiden and not punished in the closing stages at The Curragh on the last day.

That was when third to the star recruit Skitter Scatter – Bandiuc Eile second – in the Debutante Stakes at the weekend. I would take first and third out of the race (Moyglare Stud Stakes, The Curragh, September 16)

YOU NEED TO ROCK AND ROLL, RYAN

2.10 Sandown Shamshon and Firenze Rosa were both back to form on the soft on their last day, but it was a bright sunny morning at Esher so drying ground is likely to scupper them.

That will help another pair who bounced back last time out, Grey Galleon and Nibras Again, with the draw kinder to Nibras.

But, since Grey Galleon and Firenze Rosa have both been beaten by Maygold, my eye moves to On A Roll, who was a long way clear of that one at Doncaster.

Wotadoll, Peggy Sue and Desert Fox seem to need an extra furlong, so I’m relying on Ryan Moore to switch On A Roll from stall 8, as did Sean Levy at Windsor in the Spring. I got 8.2 on BETDAQ.

TOUR LOOKED BIG AT THE BETDAQ 7.8

4.45 Thirsk Saeed Bin Suroor, who has a massive 40% plus strike rate at Thirsk, pulls out all the stops to score with Big Tour today.

Bang there at this 6f point in his last three starts, he’s dropped in the weights for his pains, in fact even further by dint of the claim by the young ace rider, Jason Watson.

Cheekpieces are also added, which have made a big difference to Dalton for his new stable at Julie Camacho’s.

But a bigger threat to 7.8 offer Big Tour may be Dakota Gold (4.3), who was back on the warpath on the last day, narrowly beaten in the Great St Wilfrid.

ARCHI CAN TOLL THE BELL THIS TIME

6.55 Hamilton (Ladbrokes Lanark Silver Bell) Young horses (aged three and four) and Tim Easterby have been doing well in this lately, which points up Appointed.

Appointed has never won at the trip (close second last month) and has been something of a bridesmaid lately: form figures 332202 on turf.

He holds Archi’s Affaire, Belisa and Mukhayyam on recent form and likes today’s conditions. But Archi, who was fourth when favourite for this last year (not clear run), appears to have been aimed at the race again.

Last year’s winner, Sepal, is 16lb higher but improved last autumn and she, too, has been aimed at this, also returning only recently with a good third at Ayr.

Clear morning favourite Zeelander is a true bridesmaid. He’s 222 since May, throwing away winning chances by hanging in two of those starts, so a favourite to oppose but a big price to lay.

The ground and an 11lb hike since his last win here seems to be against Theglasgowwarrior. So I shall take Sepal (8.2 on BETDAQ) and Archi’s Affaire (9.8) to do battle for me.
