ROMANCE IN GROUP-1 DOUBLE

FORTUNE COOKIES UPDATE: The King George one-two of Goliath and Bluestocking, which feature in Daqman’s Fortune Cookies, were yesterday given a big boost by the third horse home.

Rebel’s Romance, under William Buick, was winning the Preis Von Europa for the second time, following on his 2022 victory for Charlie Appleby in the Godolphin blue.

The Cologne Group 1 was to have been Goliath’s next step to the Japan Cup in November but he is resting from a setback and may now take in the Prix du Conseil de Paris at Longchamp on October 20.

Jarraaf, the Shergar Sprint Cup winner for Fortune Cookies, could now be seen in the Renaissance Stakes at the Curragh on Sunday.

117 BLUESTOCKING (Ralph Beckett) Champion Fillies and Mares
122 CHARYN (Roger Varian) Queen Elizabeth 11 Stakes
123 ECONOMICS (William Haggas) Champion Stakes
104 JARRAAF (Owen Burrows) Renaissance Stakes, Curragh, Sunday.
112 LAKE VICTORIA (Aidan O’Brien) Cheveley Park Stakes, Saturday
112 GOLIATH (Francis-Henri Graffard) Prix du Conseil de Paris, Oct 20
115 LAZZAT (Jerome Reynier) next race to be announced
117 PORTA FORTUNA (Donnacha O’Brien) Breeders Cup Mile
116 SOSIE (Andre Fabre) Arc De Triomphe, Longchamp
115 LOOK DE VEGA (C and Y Lerner) replaces Uxmal.

PROFIT 275 points from 12-28 (42%).

WINNERS: Bluestocking WON 27-10, Big Evs WON 13-8, Bedtime Story WON 1-16, Jarraaf WON 5-6, Sosie WON 100-30, City Of Troy WON 1-4, James’s Delight WON 33-10, Lake Victoria WON 11-2, Look De Vega WON 5-1, Rosallion WON 5-2, Porta Fortuna WON 10-11 and WON 5-4.

IRELAND LEADING THE MARKET

AUTUMN DOUBLE UPDATE: Sir Mark Prescott’s bid for a first Cesarewitch will be without Pledgeofallegiance, who joins another top contender, Willlie Mullins’ Hipop De Loire, on the sidelines.

Other Prescott runners in the Cesarewitch were highlighted by Daqman in his column yesterday, with Warmonger and Godsend close up to three from Ireland at the front of the market.

Five of the last six Cesarewitch winners have been trained in Ireland, and those three include the 105 top-rated Belloccio.

The three are Jacovec Cavern (Emmet Mullins), Belloccio (Willie Mullins) and Sixandahalf (Gavin Cromwell).

DRAW DROPS RIGHT AGAIN..

⭕ 2.00 Listowel Drop The Dip is 2-2 at Listowel and has been lucky again with the draw, stall 4 when he won last year and next door in 5 today. Versatile as to ground.

Move on one more stall and you have Dancing Steve in gate 6. After a fine run at Cork, he did well on top of the ground when beating a big field at Tipperary, though Adam Caffrey couldn’t claim. He can now.

I’m splitting my stake between 5.7 Drop The Dip on BETDAQ and 9.0 about Dancing Steve.

As usual on weekdays it’s part of my overall staking plan; this is a race where I would settle for winning 12 points whichever one wins; that requires 2.5 and 1.5.

INVINCIBLE WITH SPRINTERS

⭕ 2.58 Hamilton As if he didn’t already have sprinters of class, like Elite Status, which have helped him to £11m in prizemoney in less than five seasons, Karl Burke is now in the record book for all time, as trainer of the 1-2-3 in Saturday’s Ayr Gold Cup.

I wrote up 20-1 Lethal Levi as the likely front runner on the near side, aware that the far side had a produced 1-2-3 of low numbers in the Bronze the day before.

But Levi set a lethal gallop and was three lengths clear at the line from stall 20, with 19 and 24 second and third. What can you do!

Clifford Lee, Sam Feilden and Jason Hart rode the stable 1-2-3 but Clifford is at Leicester today for sole Burke starter, Lady La Fay in the fillies maiden, and it’s Shane Gray who gets the leg up here on Invincible Annice, also on a solo trip for the Burke yard.

Invincible Annice has already won here at Hamilton but was short of room at Chester in a stronger nursery than this one.

Maiden winner at Cork for Jessica Harrington, Rock N Roll Rocket has moved to David Loughnane, who saw the colt run down the field in the Windsor Castle at Royal Ascot, faring no better in a Curragh Listed sprint first time for his new yard. Needs to bounce back for the drop in grade.

The Dragon King, who has won twice on firm ground, has to give 12lb to Invincible Annice (BETDAQ 3.55 taken) on the soft this afternoon.

HAT-TRICK WILL BOOST SALE

⭕ 5.45 Fairyhouse (Blenheim Stakes) There’s a double reason behind Amy Murphy’s intention of winning at Fairyhouse today with Itsatenfromlen. Apart from the €23,600 first prize on offer, she hopes to attract a buyer for the colt, preferably to stay in her Newmarket yard.

Offered at 8.4 on Betdaq Betting Exchange this morning, Itsatenfromlen, now tongue-tied, should be happier on top of the ground, though he has landed back-to-back strikes at Chantilly on the soft.

It’s Amy’s first Flat runner in Ireland, where she faces off with Ger Lyons and with both Aidan and Joseph O’Brien.

Lyons, who has won two of the last three renewals of this race, has lined up One Smack Mac for the 2yo Listed.

The Kodiac colt won his maiden comfortably in May but from only one subsequent winner in the field, so has it all to prove from a high stall, and 3.2 offers looked lean.

Rudi’s Apple won a nursery but conceded in better company, and Easy Mover has struggled since winning her debut maiden.

Hollie Doyle is over from England to partner Archie Watson’s Vingegaard, who is back on turf after leading most of the way when fourth in the Sirenia Stakes at Kempton but, ironically, was run out of it by an Irish raider to the London track.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
