DAQMAN CROSS COURSE MISSION: DAQMAN starts the new week with a bet at all four courses racing on Monday.
ARC WEEKEND: Huge weekend for racing climaxing with the Arc at Longchamp on Sunday. DAQMAM will build up to the big race throughout the week.
A quiet start to the week but I have found an angle in at each of the meetings racing today.
BATH
It’s rare to see FIRM as the going description these days but not surprising it’s occurred at Bath where they are unable to water and rely on good old mother nature. The field sizes have held up pretty well considering with the exception of the 2.50 which is down to just three runners. Mark Johnston’s debutant filly Phyllis Maud is trading as a red hot favourite for this race but is hardly a betting proposition.
The 3.20 looks interesting with three of the five runners last time out winners. The Japanese bred Medal of Valour romped home by six lengths here last time but is hiked up 13lb so the handicapper is clearly wanting another red face. Preference is for Zambeasy who was also a course winner last time out but the 5lb raise in the weights doesn’t look unreasonable.
HAMILTON
Top weight and BETDAQ favourite Stanarley Pic might be vulnerable in the 5.10 as he races against older horses for the first time and also has a 6lb penalty to defy for last week’s course win which looked a weaker event than this. Preference is for Eilean Mor another course winner who races under a penalty.
NEWTON ABBOT
The South West Racing Club Novices’ Chase at 4.00 looks a match on the betting between Court Minstrel and the Paul Nicholls trained Keltus. Preference is for the former who showed his class over hurdles by finishing second to Cockney Sparrow in the Scottish Champion Hurdle.
ROSCOMMON
The At The Races E.B.F. Kilbegnet Novice Chase (Grade 3) at 4.05 is the race of the day and I like the chances of the Willie Mullins trained Un Beau Roman who made up for falling on debut with a smooth success over fences at Tramore last time out.
