EVERYONE WANTS BILLY BOY

⭕ 2.30 Yarmouth Here’s a race to play in all day, with two at the front of the market likely to swap places and two outsiders which could attract money.

Cesarewitch winner Billy Loughnane had 19 booked mounts from Goodwood yesterday to Yarmouth today and back down south to Lingfield tomorrow; 32 in total before champions day at Ascot on Saturday.

He is 22221 on Califiori, who was up only 5lb since he was handicapped six races ago, until he enjoyed soft-ground success under Danny Tudhope at Pontefract recently.

So a 6lb penalty on firm could be enough to stop him, though it has to be said that cheekpieces have been a boost (two wins out of three).

How do we assess Romantic Twilight, who ran Saturday’s Group-3 Cornwallis winner, Beckfords Folly, to half a length on the July Course in August? She has run down the field twice since but as if needing further: 18.5 offers.

The grey Lord Harcourt was beaten favourite, failing by little more than a length to give 5lb to one who was pushed into the lead and made him work over the minimum at Newcastle.

This extra furlong should suit and trainer Ed Walker (3-5 in nurseries at this track) has booked Kieran Shoemark.

Nurseries are Team Hannon’s game and, after the requisite three outings, the yard has booked Tom Marquand for Arjack’s handicap debut at huge 24.0 offers on Betdaq Betting Exchange this morning.

THE MELODY LINGERS ON..

⭕ 3.52 Musselburgh Rock Melody was virtually ignored by punters (9-1 SP in 2023 and 20-1 last year) when landing back-to-back strikes in this fillies’ handicap.

Here she is again off a mark lower than for both of those two wins and claimed off by her 2024 winning jockey, Amie Waugh.

Her Jim Goldie stablemate, Jannas Journey, landed seven winners out of eight in two months from July to September.

She has not been disgraced in better races over further since then, so I wouldn’t write her off, back down in trip.

Lexington Belle is 1-16 since winning form two years ago but the tough Mehmas filly, Bellarchi, won on the Edinburgh track here in August.

The two three-year-olds, Educating Rita and Miss Hathaway, have been running over shorter in lower class. Their stables are in good form and both are bred to step up for the 7f trip.

HUGE BETDAQ OFFERS AGAIN

⭕ 5.30 Musselburgh Amie Waugh has another live chance of claiming victory in this one, riding the race’s 2023 winner, Mrs Bagerran, who made all that day.

In the adjacent stall is Zaphea, three times a winner on this course, who has been able to score twice when 16lb higher than today.

This is surely the race to let her loose, with trainer Iain Jardine having won it twice in the last four years, Andrew Mullen the winning jockey each time.

Huge BETDAQ offers this morning of 12.0 Mrs Bagerran and 18.0 Zaphea.

SHALLOW COURSE FORM DEEP

⭕ 6.40 Kempton Shallow is 21123 at Kempton at this class-4 level but stepped up to grade 3 to score on the July Course and was not disgraced, fourth in a big field at York, up a furlong and raised yet again in class to level two.

The four-year-old filly is back in her comfort zone today, with Oisin Murphy booked, getting weight from, or on level par with, the three-year-olds.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
