FIRST AND THIRD IN THE MAROIS: Daqman named winner and third in the Prix Jacques Le Marois at Deauville yesterday, Ribchester (WON 37-10) and Ervedya (3rd 58-10), plumping for the place Ervedya as better than a win on either of the front pair in the market, only to find that Ribchester was easy to back near the time.

YORK PREVIEW: TODAY: Daqman’s Two-Year-Olds To Follow are updated to reveal a trio of top fillies for Thursday’s Lowther Stakes. TOMORROW: Fortune Cookies for the week, plus the X-Factor for finding long-shots on the Knavesmire.

TOP THREE COULD CLASH IN LOWTHER

Where are they now? Remember those top two-year-olds which were going to line up against each other for the Nunthorpe? No, neither do I.

All the headlines. The challenges. The Press interviews, with such as Wesley Ward.

Result: nothing, nowt, zilch. Unless you count the inevitable Mark Johnston soldiers on parade, squaddies who will be square-bashing down the York straight on Friday.

To be fair, they are the one-two in the Molecomb, Yalta and The Last Lion, albeit Prince Of Lir, who has been declared by Robert Cowell, has already beaten The Last Lion twice.

Prince Of Lir and The Last Lion were one-two in the Norfolk Stakes on the soft at Royal Ascot and the forecast of a dry York is probably against them.

Thursday could see a three-filly clash in the Lowther Stakes from our Two-Year-Olds To Follow list: Fair Eva, Roly Poly and Velveteen.

That’s some trio, winners respectively of the Princess Margaret Stakes (firm), Cherry Hinton (firm) and a prestigious Curragh maiden (good).

And there’s good news of latecomer, Endless Charm. I’ve stuck with the Godolphin filly, and have now been rewarded with inspiration from the gallops and confirmed entries in the Rockfel and Cheveley Park.

SWEET SOUND OF SUCCESS AT ROSCOMMON

Chelmsford 3.30 – A classy conditions race where all five can be given a chance of some sort. Buckstay and Mitchum Swagger come out best at the weights but both are hold-up sorts who may not appreciate a slowly run race and a small field. With that in mind a chance is taken on the three-year-old Atlantic Sun (8.6) to make the most of his inside draw and likely easy lead.

Thirsk 3.45 – Fredricka (6.6) was a winner off this mark earlier in the year and has some winning course and distance form to her name back in 2014. She didn’t run too badly last time and her trainer has been among the winners lately.

Roscommon 5.20 – The dogs in the street seem to be barking about the Jim Bolger newcomer Zorion (1.82). A full brother to the talented but frustrating former Bolger inn-mate Zip Top, he has the page to go very well here.

Roscommon 5.50 – Ger Lyons should be able to gain quick compensation however with Sweet Sounds (1.81). An impressive winner on debut, she, like all of Lyons’ two-year-olds, can be expected to improve for that run which leaves her well clear of these.

Windsor 7.00 – Materialistic is sure to have her supporters after winning the only start of her career but has not been seen since last October and at the current prices Red Tea (3.5) makes more appeal. A filly in top form she is a winner of her last two starts and looks guaranteed to run her race.

Windsor 7.30 – It can often pay to follow mares in-form and sprinters in-form and both come in the shape of Pretty Bubbles (15.5) here. A stylish winner over this course and distance last time she faces a step up in class here but will be a huge danger to all if reappearing in the same heart.
