DAQMAN POSTS 20-0 WIN OVER PRICEWISE: It’s official: Daqman had his best season for four years in beating Pricewise with 63 winning bets in the Flat season just ended, taking his total to 1,119 in 20 seasons of beating the Racing Post expert at his own game. Yes, that’s the score: 20-0. And the goal is winners.

SEARCH CONTINUES: The search for value is ongoing daily, and Daqman today finds BETDAQ bets today at 6.5, 9.6 and 12.0. With Carlisle abandoned, his search for value switched to Kempton and Wolverhampton.

SOARING GLORY FOR COMEBACK

⭕ 3.00 Kempton Langer Dan has won at the major venues of Aintree, Cheltenham and Sandown. Can he add the King George track to his CV today?

Yes, he’s a hurdler; but I was a bit surprised he hadn’t jumped fences despite his small size, related on the dam’s side to Celestial Gold, winner of both the Autumn Gold Cup at Cheltenham and the then-Hennessy at Newbury in the space of a fortnight.

Trainer Dan Skelton sees him as a ‘pocket rocket’ over hurdles, rated 147, and fancying his chances in Graded events, ‘coming alive in the Spring.’

So we assume that, off top weight, and with the rest of the season before him, today is just to make sure he qualifies for the Pertemps Final in March. He must finish in the first four to do so.

Cobblers Dream was as good over hurdles, but this winner of the Lanzarote went the steeplechase route, taking a 146 rating with him. He struggled with that burden in two novice handicaps and now returns to hurdles 10lb lower.

Jonjo O’Neill had four winners inside a week up until Thursday, and Soaring Glory won after a break four times in a row until he, too, came to grief, switched to fences.

If he’s ready today, he will return to the smaller obstacles 10lb lower than when fifth in the big Newbury hurdle in 2022, after third to Epatante in the Christmas Hurdle. Betdaq Betting Exchange 9.6.

At last we have one whose career took off when taking the chasing route: Kittys Light won the Eider, the Scottish Grand National and the Sandown Gold Cup last Spring, and he’s 0-5 over hurdles.

Irish Hill is another Paul Nicholls with wind surgery and, as we saw yesterday, some of his are bringing the house down (Wincanton) and some are plugging round like they have wet sand in a saddle-bag. Serves me right for choosing the wrong batch but, honestly, Henri The Second ran an absolute stinker at Sandown yesterday.

Dargiannini is an uninspiring favourite and, like his former master, Nicholls, Harry Denham is in form but not when I back him!

Whether you choose Jonjo O’Neill for this or not, he seems sure to have at least one winner today, since he has three horses all likely favourite at Carlisle.

12.0 LILITH LOOKS PLACE VALUE

⭕ 3.30 Kempton This 2m 4.5f mares’ handicap chase is usually a favourites’ race and I think La Renommee will vie for that position and be shorter than this morning’s 6.5 on BETDAQ.

La Renommee has had to be raised a class after three wins out of four took her up 15lb but she won with her head in her chest at Ludlow.

Petticoat Lucy is also raised in class after back-to-back wins took her 12lb higher in the handicap but she failed to make similar leap in grade over hurdles.

Notnowlinda was backed this morning and, despite needing a second go at wind surgery, Lilith has finished in the first three 11 times in a row and her trainer, Anthony Honeyball, did us a big favour on Saturday with Blackjack Magic. Lilith is value win and place at 12.0 if it says a straight-eight race.

WOLVER THE HAGGAS TOP TRACK

⭕ 7.00 Wolverhampton William Haggas has to be trainer of the year in terms of getting the best out of his string from class-6 handicappers to Classic contenders.

While others have cried enough, William will continue to add to his 135 winners (21% strike rate) for the year and to his 600 overall total on AW.

Tonight he’s back to his winningmost venue of all – AW and turf – Wolverhampton, where Mistress Light wears blinkers first time.

Just such an additional aid might have seen the grey filly home at Windsor, instead of sustaining a half-length defeat. Claiming off her will also help tonight.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
