6-1 DAQMAN WINNER WAS 11.5 ON BETDAQ: Daqman landed a one-two at Newbury yesterday with Dinsdale (WON 6-1 from 11.5 on BETDAQ) and Most Celebrated (2nd 2-1) for a forecast of nearly 17-1 with Ladbrokes. His trebles were decimated by non-runners, leaving Wenyerreadyfreddie (WON 1-2) as a standalone winner.

OUR MAN’S 28 POINTS CLEAR OF PRICEWISE: There are a host of non-runners at Newbury again today, so watch your bets, as Daqman takes on Pricewise in the 1.50 Doncaster, and the 2.05, 2.40 and 3.15 Newbury, with the scores Daqman 16, Pricewise 9, and 28 points between them (+18 to -10).

HELLO ‘HELLO’! WHAT A PROFIT..

1.30 Newbury This veterans’ hurdle has now become the seniors hurdle, presumably after eight-year-olds won both starts!

In their hat-trick bid, they have Hello George back to the trip of his last success at Kelso; Agincourt Reef for last year‘s winning yard; and Western Climate, who is up in weight and class.

Hello George could return to his best here under Richard Johnson at a time when trainer Philip Hobbs usually gets into Cheltenham mode. He has a massive 106-point level-stakes profit at Newbury, and George is a decent win-and-place at 6.0 in the BETDAQ win orange.

2.05 Newbury Stars of old lining up for this veterans’ chase include winners of the Sandown Gold Cup (Just A Par), Charlie Hall Chase (Harry Topper), Tommy Whittle (Seventh Sky), Stayer’s Final (No Duffer), London National (Rocky Creek), RSA (O’Faolain’s Boy), Scottish Grand National (Alco), Midlands National (Goulanes), Murphy Chase (Katenko) and this Greatwood Veterans Chase (Shotavodka). All you have to do is pick the one that’s retained some form!

Loose Chips will take no prisoners in front. By the time he’s had enough, so will half the field, depending on how much rain falls on the soft ground.

The BETDAQ 12.5 offer, Goulanes, a glass horse who’s won four times from seven chase starts still standing will have been got up for this, with jockey James Best only last weekend winning the big race at Kempton for in-form trainer, Neil Mulholland.

Shotavodka will have been primed for a repeat. Katenko has crashed 17lb and O’Faolain’s Boy 13lb in the ratings since Cheltenham a year ago. Harry Topper ran well in a similar race recently.

VIBRATO A STONE LOWER FOR STAN

2.40 Newbury (Greatwood Hurdle) Though no favourite has scored since Orcadian (2007), Bloody Mary looks poised to change all that in a depleted field.

But, while the grey-mare’s third to Limini in the Mares Novices at Cheltenham last March now looks good, this may be ground out in the mud by Melodic Rendezvous (8.0 BETDAQ). He’s very well treated in this company if he’s in the mood.

3.15 Newbury (Greatwood Gold Cup) Paul Nicholls has rampaged through this race, with form figures in the decade of 2111011211.

His recent formula is young horses (aged six 2, seven 2) carrying 11st to 11st 3lb (three of the last four), though he did win it off the top of the handicap with Sound Investment two years back.

Venetia Williams is one of only two trainers since 2008 to break his hold on the race, and interesting that she’s booked Tom Scu for Vic De Touzaine.

Nicholls gives Stan Sheppard a big chance here on Vibrato Valtat (8.8 BETDAQ offers). He’s a horse that doesn’t find much at the business end as bridesmaid figures of 30022 reveal but blinkers may help.

And, like Melodic Rendezvous in the previous race, he is actually well in off top weight, dropped 9lb since Cheltenham last year and, with Stan’s 5lb claim, has a real opportunity a stone lower.

O Maonlai is unreliable with three parking tickets from five starts but Dresden (12.0 offers) should reverse Wetherby placings with Oldgrangewood at the revised weights.

BANKER BET SECOND TO BE FIRST

2.35 Lingfield Four-year-olds have dominated this (with 4-5), with a high(ish) stall best. Step forward Sea Of Flames (in gate 7), a CD winner three times already up to Listed level for David Elsworth.

Flames is race fit from Meydan and dropped a couple of pounds. The trainer has just had five Lingfield runners out of five finish in the first four, one a winner: 8.8 on BETDAQ .

3.35 Doncaster (Grimthorpe Chase) Paul Nicholls, who switches San Benedeto (2.25) from the 3.15 Newbury, tests one of his Grand National horses, Vivaldi Collonges.

It’s a good plan because he’s getting 13lb from last year’s National runner-up and winner of this last year, The Last Samuri, the same difference as at Aintree.

But this could be one for the North, with Nicky Richards progressive Looking Well (BETDAQ 6.4) getting around three stone from the favourite!

4.20 Lingfield (Spring Cup) Elzie has a sequence horse in this, Tisbutadream, but you could get any price you liked this morning.

The market speaks for William Haggas, who now has more than 200 horses in training, and has Second Thought (2.4 favourite) as his first thought for this Listed Spring Cup, a race he won in 2014 with the prolific Ertijaal.
