6-1 TWICE IF YOU BET ON BETDAQ: Daqman followed up Thursday’s 6-1 winner by taking 7.0 Berkshire Whisper yesterday.

WON 6-1 BULLET POINT (Thursday)
WON 9-2 BERKSHIRE WHISPER (Friday, Betdaq Betting Exchange 7.0)

❌ FAIRYHOUSE OFF: WILLIE WAITS: With the opening day at Fairyhouse rained off, challenger Willie Mullins will wish he had runners at Haydock where Daqman follows the five plays by title-race leader Dan Skelton, who is also four-handed at Newton Abbot (2) and Huntingdon (2). Willie waits on Plumpton tomorrow.

SKELTON FISHING FOR £122k

+ FOLLOW DAN SKELTON with nine runners today (in capitals) as he bids for a total of £122,347 in winners’ prizemoney across the cards at three meetings.

⭕ 1.30 Haydock (£8,169) SOLEIL D’ARIZONA is festooned with aids (hood and tongue-tie after wind op) for this maiden hurdle to try to bag first prize of £8,169 towards the Skelton loot.

⭕ 2.05 Haydock (Two-Mile Series Final, winner £20,576) GOT GREY has one thing in this hurdle that the others haven’t got.. the lowest rating!

The grey did win twice when racing on summer ground last year, and has a better chance than you might think from the owners’ name: Only Here For The Beer.

The improver is the Galileo colt Bluegrass, up a stone since November which gives him a nice midway mark in this handicap, receiving 10lb from Givemefive.

⭕ 2.40 Haydock (Stayers Hurdle Series Final, winner £20,576) LAND GENIE has to beat the 2022 winner of this An Tailliur, whose trainer, Jonjo O’Neill, had Land Genie before it moved to the Skeltons.

Burrows Hall is up 17lb for a hat-trick, in which he made all the running every time! Back and lay?

⭕ 3.15 Haydock (Veterans’ Series Final, £51,440) Ten-year-olds have the best record, as most veterans begin to deteriorate after that, and LE MILOS, one-time winner of the Newbury Gold Cup, won his qualifier comfortably in February. Rain would help the Skelton horse.

Numitor holds the keys. Dubai Days, second to that one in this final last year, is 9lb better off. Eldorado Allen, third to Numitor at Cheltenham this season, is a stone better.

Glynn, a couple of lengths behind him at Wincanton in the autumn has a 10lb pull.

⭕ 4.25 Haydock (£5,281) QUEENS VENTURE is the Skelton contender in a tight handicap, with Mahler Moon a recent winner but still well in.

⭕ 4.19 Newton Abbot (£4,753) HELTENHAM could bounce back to form, nicely weighted again now, and a winner on heavy. MOUNT TEMPEST also runs for Dan Skelton.

*At Huntingdon, he runs STROLLING ALONG (1.54) for £3,565 and JOHNNY HOOVES (5.24) for £2,178

CLOSE AFFAIR IN SPRINT

⭕ 3.00 Musselburgh (Scottish Sprint Cup) The principals have raced against each other, so it’s very much about who is in form, which rider gets it right.

Jer Batt, receiving a pound, beat American Affair a neck last August but, though receiving 5lb, went down a head to Cover Up in October.

The ground was different but, at face value, the revised weights give Jer Batt a continued edge on American Affair and the chance of turning round the Cover Up result. But Jer Batt usually needs a run.

American Affair and Jm Jungle are closely matched on their Portland one-two, but American Affair has the course form, and wins when fresh.

His jockey, Paul Mulrennan, is a Musselburgh specialist (80+ winners), whereas Oisin Murphy (1-7) has had very little experience of the track.

STARS FACES WILD CARD

⭕ 3.35 Musselburgh (Queens Cup) Align The Stars looks spot on for this after a Listed run, in which he finished just threeparts of a length off a 112-rated winner.

Aimeric has five Listed placed to his name and now’s usually the time to catch him, a winner three times after a break, dropped to today’s level. But can he last out the trip?

Disappointing in handicaps (miles behind Align The Stars) Wild Waves nevertheless ran in the St Leger. Has ‘his’ gelding op made a man of him or is he still a flop?

MURPHY BALON BOOKING

⭕ 5.17 Musselburgh Hugo Palmer had been getting places without winning until a 14-1 hit at Newmarket on Thursday, when he managed to book Oisin Murphy.

I think that we can assume Murphy or his agent were given a ticket to ride Balon d’Or here at Musselburgh today or the 14-1 strike encouraged them to go for it.

The Kodiac four-year-old has never been out of the first three after a break and won on this Scottish track on his debut.
