DAQMAN IN FORM FOR THE ECLIPSE: Daqman yesterday won 25 points profit with two mighty smashes at Sandown, ace after ace, on the eve of today’s Eclipse Stakes.

WON 6-4 WINDLORD (nap)
WON 5-2 COLTRANE

TODAY: 21.0 SHOCK? Daqman researches three races at Sandown and the Lancashire Oaks at Haydock. He finds a 21.0 Betdaq Betting Exchange outsider and a nap at nearly 7-2.

ADRESTIA IS VERY FAST

⭕ 1.50 Sandown (Charge) Second-season animals used to dominate this but have made few entries and no impact lately with five-year-olds scoring a four-timer.

A three-year-old is top-rated this year but West Acre has a wide draw and looks overrated. His 110 was built up at Meydan, where Ponntos was twice his runner-up but is 0-10 in the last 12 months.

I prefer a CD winner at Sandown, the filly Adrestia who was strong in the stiff finish of a big-field handicap at Royal Ascot run in a fast time.

Kerdos ran well in a Group-1 at the royal meeting but wAs 66-1 and the time of the race was much slower than Adrestia’s. Rain would help; Christophe Soumillon will help.

The four-year-old filly She’s Quality loves the very fast Tipperary five but was headed in the final stages of Group sprints on tougher tracks at Haydock and Newmarket, where Rumstar, aged five, beat her giving 3lb; now gives 6lb.

GREEK BEARING GIFTS

⭕ 2.25 Sandown (Challenge) Greek Order was a CD winner here at Sandown under today’s rider, Ryan Moore, and then second in the Cambridgeshire before being campaigned in America.

Michael Bell had had him for just the one race back home, 2nd of 17 in his group in the cavalry-charge Royal Hunt Cup.

Winner of his group, My Cloud, was winner of the race, with the most devastating kick of the entire Ascot meeting.

Treasure Time won a strong mile race on firm at the Ebor meeting but then failed to carry a 7lb rise into the frame before 10 months off, and the market may tell us whether he reappears at the top of his game.

21.0 NUIT IN OAKS 1-2

⭕ 2.40 Haydock (Lancashire Oaks) Three-year-olds won eight out of nine Lancashire Oaks when the race was first opened to older fillies and mares in 1991 but now they tend to wait for the Yorkshire Oaks.

In fact, the last time a three-year-old filly with any ability took in this Haydock version, she was just beaten in 2021 by future Arc winner, Alpinista.

The grey Estrange today represents the four-year-olds, who have won this 12 years running but because of the rain, there may be an opening for Nuit to cause an upset.

Both the odds-on Estrange and Scenic are consistent losers with cut in the ground, and I shall take a bit of 21.0 Nuit, reverse forecasting with Estrange.

OMBUDSMAN IS ENABLED

⭕ 3.35 Sandown (Eclipse Stakes) STATS: TRAINERS: Aidan O’Brien 8, Team Gosden 4. JOCKEYS: Ryan Moore 4.

AGE: Trend to 3yo (7) in the decade. FAVOURITE: 6-10. FORM: 75% winners had previously scored over 1m 2f. OFFICIAL RATINGS:

128 OMBUDSMAN (John and Thady Gosden) Second here at Sandown (Brigadier Gerard Stakes in May) when giving 3lb to Almaquam, but impressive, beat Anmaat two lengths, in the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes (1m 2f) at Royal Ascot to make it 5-6.

121 RULING COURT (Charlie Appleby) Lucky to hold off fast-finishing Field Of Gold in the 2,000 Guineas and seven lengths behind that one, albeit short of room, third in the St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot.

121 SOSIE (Andre Fabre) Best form on soft, including Ganay-Ispahan Group-1 double at Longchamp this Spring, after fourth to Bluestocking in last year’s Arc de Triomphe.

116 DELACROIX (Aidan O’Brien) Drops back to the 1m 2f of his Group-3 double at Leopardstown in the Spring (beat Lambourn a length and a half) but failed to act at Epsom when Derby favourite, with Lambourn winning unchallenged.

115 CAMILLE PISSARRO (Aidan O’Brien) Third in the French 2,000 Guineas at Longchamp and won their Derby at Chantllly. Ryan Moore picks Delacroix, having been proved correct on Henry Matisse at Longchamp, with Christophe Soumllion on Camille Pissarro his afternoon as he was when beaten that day.

Daqman’s verdict With Lambourn ripping off two Derbys from the front, the three-year-olds’ form looks questionable and the Enable stable, which won this in 2019, appears to have a mile-and-a-quarter champion in Ombudsman but Delacroix is better than his Derby form.
