15-2 AND 5-2 BETDAQ HEADLINES: Daqman was 100% with his headlines for the two-day BETDAQ-sponsored meeting at Doncaster, following up ‘Charlie is a proper horse now’ on Friday (Charlie Croker (WON 15-2) with yesterday’s ‘Improver Intisaab best of the BETDAQ races’ (Intisaab WON 5-2).

DAQMAN LEADS PRICEWISE 14-4: Menorah (WON 11-4) at the last big Jumps meeting in England was enough to extend Daqman’s lead over Pricewise in their value challenge on the day that Tony McCoy retired. Pricewise is not quitting but he is 14-4 down in the Flat season so far. Overall: Daqman 155, Pricewise 77.

PUNCHESTOWN HERE WE COME: They haven’t finished jumping in Ireland! In fact, the Punchestown Festival promises power-packed racing from the opening day on Tuesday. Daqman previews tomorrow.

MORE BETDAQ RACES TOMORROW: Daqman also hopes to continue his form run in BETDAQ-sponsored events when he analyses five races in a row on the Kempton Park AW card tomorrow.

VARIABLE LEADS WELD GAMBLES AT GOWRAN

4.00 Gowran Park Dermot Weld’s form figures in this over the last seven years are 1210411, the winners all favourites, all ridden by Pat Smullen.

Weld’s grey Carla Bianca is the only CD winner in the race, the only Group winner on a sound surface. And the only one backed in the race this morning, with paper joint-jolly, Legatissimo, the Leopardstown 1,000 Guineas Trial fourth, an easy 4.5 on BETDAQ.

4.30 Gowran Park Weld’s Sea The Stars filly, Oaks entry Variable, was the medium of an early-mouse gamble, in to a shade of odds on, offers of 7.0 bar one.

The trainer has a 35% strike rate with second-season animals this Irish Flat season (14-40) and is leading trainer with an overall 31%.

5.35 Gowran Park The same stable’s Zafilani, second in that shock three-runner defeat of John F Kennedy, was in a tight betting triangle for the final three-year-old race.

Zafilani was sandwiched in the market by Royal Naval Ship, J F K’s stable companion, and Mohaayed, the trio separated by just 0.69 points in the orange.

Mohaayed, third in Leopardstown’s 2,000 Guineas Trial, and Royal Naval Ship are both earmarked for Curragh Guineas and Derby.

HIPPOMENE AND RICOU CAN STOP ACTIVIAL

4.15 Auteuil Activial, third in three consecutive Grade-3 hurdles in UK, including The Ladbroke and at Cheltenham, steps up to Grade 2 here.

Harry Fry’s five-year-old faces the first three in a CD Grade 1, won in November by Hippomene from Roll On Has and Hilton Du Berlais.

They met again at Auteuil a month ago after a break in the French season, with this time Hilton Du Berlais coming out on top, though only third. Hippomene should bounce back here under Jacques Ricou.

NABATEAN THE BANKER FOR IN-FORM STABLE

3.15 Chelmsford Frankie Dettori, with a near-50% strike rate, is at Chelmsford for one ride, Makzon in this race for Sir Michael Stoute.

Ted Durcan, who rode Stoute’s winner yesterday, is on Bernhard in the same race, but there’s not a shekel for that one, a lonely dog on a raft, drifted over the betting weir to 40.0 on BETDAQ as I write.

Form lemmings will be on the favourite, Franklin D, seventh in the Chesham at Royal Ascot but not seen since, and I’ll have my pound on Makzon at 9.4 in the orange.

4.50 Chelmsford Nabatean has leapfrogged the paper favourite, 10-year-old Noguchi (out to 7.2 on BETDAQ as I write), on the strength of very good stable reports from the in-form Andrew Balding.

The trainer expects to take a decent handicap with this soft-ground horse and what better to start him off than in the deep terrain of Chelmsford.
