ARREST THAT MAN! HE’S 23 UP ON PRICEWISE: Apart from the nap, Arrest, Daqman managed only places at the big odds yesterday but the value on BETDAQ was significant as ever in long and short prices, and a declared win and place Mister Bluebird at 18.0 put him even further in front of Pricewise.

TODAY: Across Europe and down the scale from Classic trial to the Group-1 two-year-old classic, Prix Morny. It’s all happening at Deauville and the Curragh.

SISTINA CAN SWOOP FOR SPENNY

⭕ 2.50 Deauville (Prix Jean Romanet, 1m 2f Group-1 Fillies And Mares) Only one winning favourite in the last nine years and English raiders have won seven of the nine. They are joined today in a hot quartet by two from Ireland. I rate them:

116 Via Sistina (George Boughey, Jamie Spencer): Pretty Polly victory at the Curragh backed up soft-ground success at Newmarket, when she beat Al Husn who would go on to a hat-trick, culminating in the Nassau Stakes at Goodwood.

114 Above The Curve (Joseph O’Brien, Ryan Moore) It was soft for the Nassau when Above The Curve split Al Husn and Nashwa in a finish of half-lengths.

113 Mqse De Sevigne (Andre Fabre, Alexis Pouchin) Beaten two lengths by Above The Curve in the Spring, she dropped back to a mile the last day and won a Group 1 at Deauville.

109 One For Bobby (Hughie Morrison, Christophe Soumillon) Well behind Above The Curve for Johnny Murtagh in September, has improved 9lb from a 100 mark after joining Hughie Morrison, winning the Nottinghamshire Oaks and the Group-3 Grand Prix de Vichy.

In between those two soft-ground strikes, she was more than three lengths third to Al Husn on the Newcastle Tapeta.

107 Trevounance (Jessica Harrington, Shane Foley) Has failed to reach the frame at Group-1 level after back-to-back wins over Mqse De Sevigne in lesser Group events at Deauville last August.

DAQMAN: Via Sistina has a cracking turn of foot on soft ground and should confirm Pretty Polly form with Above The Curve, who held Mqse de Sevigne in the Spring but will find that one has improved since then.

RAMATUELLE TO CROSS THE TIBER

⭕ 3.25 Deauville (Prix Morny, 6f Group-1 2-yo colts and fillies) Three fillies have beaten the colts in the decade, and FORTUNE COOKIE Ramatuelle will find any flaw in River Tiber, who was doubtful for this until seemingly ok in a Saturday morning canter.

Another FORTUNE COOKIE, Elite Status heads an English raiding party which includes Vandeek, Jasour and Sacred Angel.

As well as River Tiber (Aidan O’Brien), Ireland is represented by Valiant Force, who had Elite Status (hampered rival one out) nearly two lengths behind, third, on firm ground for the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot.

River Tiber had subsequent Phoenix Stakes winner, Bucanero Fuerte, in third in the Coventry Stakes, reckoned to be superior to the Norfolk at the Royal Ascot meeting.

Ramatuelle won the Robert Papin at Chantilly, slammed the colts in the first of the two-year-old tests in July, and followed up over the same course and distance by beating River Tiber stablemater His Majesty, four lengths.

His Majesty was beaten about the same distance by Bucanero Fuerte at the Curragh earlier that month.

Elite Status has been to Deauville before, winning the Cabourg (soft) later that month.

AIDAN WINS.. UNLESS IT’S JOSEPH

⭕ 4.05 Curragh (Royal Whip, 1m 2f) Three-year-olds go for a five-timer in this today, with Unless the most likely winner. BETDAQ 2.78 taken.

She stepped up to this trip last Sunday and showed her liking for it with a Listed success. Aidan O’Brien’s fillies go on from this race but none more so than Found (2015), who won the Arc the following year.

Colin Keane (Layfayette) will try to use his draw advantage, with stalls 1 and 2 together winning this race six times in the decade.

⭕ 4.35 Curragh (Irish St Leger Trial) Another small field at the Curragh; another Group race usually in the grasp of Aidan O’Brien (seven wins in a row 2014-20, including Order Of St George, who won two Irish St Legers).

That is how it was until back-to-back wins for Joseph O‘Brien in the last two seasons. He dominates the heat today with his three.

Eldar Eldarov is already out and there must be a question mark over Library, who had a hard race in the bog at Cork on Friday night.

MERCHANT ON HIS METAL TODAY

⭕ 5.45 Sandown These Sunday series allow the ITV Racing boys to play even more games together, and enjoy making fun of themselves and a travesty of the sport. This Mile usually goes to a three-year-old; a horse, that is, not a child.

Austrian Theory (14.0) and Metal Merchant (5.5) will appreciate the better ground after the (forecast) sunny day, which is not conducive to old-timers digging in.

In fact, seven-year-old perennial placed horse Ouzo (19 defeats in a row), eight-year-old Orbaan (10 in a row) and What’s The Story (now nine and 1-14) have won only one race all told in 43, viewed from that perspective.

⭕ 6.45 Sandown Young horses again do best in the stayers’ division, particularly on decent ground.

Saratoga Gold is high in the handicap; Omniscient failed to make the leap to class 2 but this is easier company; likewise Diamond Boy. Traila hasn’t won since breaking his maiden, always a bad sign.

I’ll support the four-year-olds, Pons Aelius (10 on Betdaq Betting Exchange) , who may try to make all, and Omniscient (5.4).

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
