13-2 KING GEORGE WIN JUST PART OF DAQMAN TRIPLE WHAMMY: Big-race master tipster Daqman left the rest standing in the King George yesterday, just like his tip, five-lengths winner Novellist (WON 13-2). Here’s Daqman’s triple whammy in England’s championship race:

HE TIPPED THE ONE-TWO: He tipped the King George 1-2, Novellist (backed to win 30 points Gold Value on BETDAQ) and Trading Leather (2nd 9-2) from two bets.
HE LAID THE LOSING FAVOURITE: He opposed the favourite, supposedly star of the show, Cirrus Des Aigles (lay, 4th 6-4 SP).
HE HAS 24.0 THE WINNER FOR THE ARC: His column (see Archive for June 24) has already named Novellist for the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe in October at 24.0 (to win 40 points) on BETDAQ.

THE ACE OF LAYS AGAIN: Cirrus Des Aigles was Daqman’s second ace lay in three days after he opposed Mars in Thursday ‘s Leopardstown defeat at 11-8 on. Novellist is now trading around 5-1 favourite for the Arc at Longchamp.

22 WINNING BETS IN FIVE DAYS: The King George coup capped a huge week for Daqman, in which he had 22 wins in five days, six straight winning naps and eight consecutive winning bets with double-figure stakes, among them three winning bankers in a row.

1.30 Deauville Royal Ascot two-year-old form took a knock back on the course there yesterday when David Brown’s Qatar Racing filly Wind Fire was well blown out.

It doesn’t inspire confidence in My Catch, from the same team and the same carnival (fifth in the Windsor Castle Stakes), although he has the measure of Make It Reel on a line through Royale Du Buisson.

I shall have a pound on Vintage Red, getting the fillies’ allowance. She’s won only in the French Provinces but it may be significant that Maxime Guyon takes the ride on the daughter of soft-ground sire Turtle Bowl.

It was Guyon who won the Grand Prix De Paris on Flintshire, a likely rival for the so-fluent King George winner, Novellist, when the Arc comes around in October.

2.40 Deauville (Prix Rothschild) It is no offence to the memory of Sir Henry Cecil to say that training winners is about team work, and the good ship Warren Place has continued to make waves under Lady Cecil, with 15 winners (strike rate 33%) trawling £355,000 in prizemoney.

Chigun, who took a Group 3 at The Curragh for Sir Henry, was a rare flop for Lady Cecil, when well behind in the Duke Of Cambridge Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Yes, that was a Group 2, but it doesn’t explain the turn around of up to six lengths effected by Dank, who’d beaten Chigun only narrowly at Newmarket in the Spring.

Winner of the Duke Of Cambridge race was Duntle, who had scored in yielding ground on his seasonal debut at Leopardstown, but prefers faster conditions.

The Classic generation is well represented, notably Kenhope who raced in a Group 1 at Royal Ascot, the Coronation Stakes, and – nearly two lengths in front of Maureen – was beaten only by the flying finish of Sky Lantern.

But thereby hangs a tale. Sky Lantern was subsequently pipped in that controversial Falmouth Stakes by Elusive Kate, who won this Prix Rothschild last year.

So it is that we seem set for a match between the four-year-olds Elusive Kate and Duntle. Elusive Kate officially has the Group-1-winning form.

Duntle won a Group 1 as a two-year-old but was disqualified, so avoiding a penalty for the Duke Of Cambridge, for which fast ground was in her favour. Today’s surface best suits Kate, who wins this unless Chigun can bounce back.

3.05 Ascot Mark Johnston has had three winners at Ascot already this week – Broxbourne, Sennockian Star and Galician – and Scatter Dice is big at 9.0 on BETDAQ this morning for a CD winner at Ascot who ran so well in the Pitman’s Derby from a bad draw.

4.05 Pontefract An open race, though you’d expect the pair who’ve tackled Group-1 company, Gabrial and Aesop’s Fable, to have a big say.

I’ll back both – at 6.6 and 4.1 respectively on BETDAQ this morning – though the market may change considerably if the forecast thunderstorms arrive.

5.20 Ascot It’s a pinstickers’ ending to the day. Connor Beasley takes a valuable 5lb off CD-winner Barnet Fair (needs it to stay firmish); Frankie Dettori is booked for down-in-the-weights Cheviot; Face The Problem acts on any going; Steps is the one if the storms arrive.
