EPIC DAQMAN IN 80-POINT STRIKE: Daqman landed 80 points in less than 15 minutes yesterday with a big-handicap hit at Haydock and a Group-race nap which was the gamble of the day at Kempton. He made a profit of 42.50 overall on the entire day’s sport.

IRISH DOUBLE BID AT LONGCHAMP: Today Daqman takes you through the Moulin-day card at Longchamp, where he fancies an Irish–trained double. York has BETDAQ-value bets in the Garrowby.

5.5 STRIKE ON IRISH RAIDER

🇫🇷 12.23 Longchamp (Prix La Rochette, 7f Group 3, soft) Joseph O’Brien is first off the blocks in France this afternoon to try a strike at this 2yo Group 3.

Midnight Strike was placed in the Marble Hill at the Curragh in the Spring, the winner going on to place in the Norfolk Stakes and the runner-up second in the Anglesey.

Midnight Strike himself went on to a decent fourth of 21 to Heavens Gate in a big Sales race at Naas last month and was fourth in the Lowther at York.

But he had disappointed on firm ground at Royal Ascot, down the field in the Coventry.

The likely favourite today, Houquetot (named after a tiny village in Normandy) is a Wootton Bassett trained by Christopher Head, but the form has not worked out well and I’ll take a chance at Midnight!

BETDAQ value 5.5.

OMBUDSMAN IS A SUPERNAP

🇫🇷 12.58 Longchamp (Prix du Prince d’Orange, 1m 2f Group 3) William Buick, who landed a Haydock double yesterday, will ride the unbeaten Ombudsman, with Team Gosden’s thinking that this fourth race will be his last this season. Supernap.

🇫🇷 1.33 Longchamp (La Coupe de Maisons-Laffitte, 1m 2f Group 3) Ryan Moore, who is here to ride Henry Longfellow in the Moulin, picks up a spare on Al Mubhir for William Haggas.

Al Mubhir has spent most of his career in handicaps but won a Listed at Sandown in July. Jack Channon’s Certain Lad is still to be reckoned with at age 8; second three times at Group-3 level this year.

Both English raiders have something to find with the entire Haya Zark, winner of three Group-3 races, and Dolayli who both come here fresh.

Haya Zark cracked the Group-1 barrier this year, winner of the Ganay and third in the Ispahan, but only a head in front of a Dolayli, who is now 6lb better off because Haya Park carries a penalty.

CHARYN ‘FORTUNE COOKIE’

🇫🇷 2.50 Longchamp (Prix du Moulin, 1m, Group 1) FORTUNE COOKIE Charyn (pictured below) raced in the shadow of Ballydoyle’s Paddington last year off 109 and 110 but back-to-back success in the Doncaster Mile and the Sandown Mile this Spring showed him to be on the up.

He moved into Group 1 and established a 122 rating after a magnificent double for Roger Varian and Silvestre De Sousa in the Queen Anne at Royal Ascot and the Jacques Le Marois at Deauville.

He gave weight and a three-lengths beating to the French 2,000 Guineas winner, Metropolitan, with Inspiral third that day at Deauville.

Notable Speech, who won the Newmarket Guineas, finished behind Metropolitan and Henry Longfellow in the Queen Anne, but redeemed himself in part by taking the Sussex Stakes.

However, Notable Speech was receiving 8lb from both the 110-rated second horse and from the 120-rated third, and Charyn was better than evens on Betdaq Betting Exchange this morning.

WIND SET FOR WELD BLOW

🇫🇷 3.25 Longchamp (Prix Gladiateur, 2m Group 3) Dermot Weld’s lightly-raced Harbour Wind has been to Paris before in his career sequence of 121121, second in the Group-2 Chaudenay (to Double Major) last September.

Double Major was beaten twice in the Spring by Sevenna’s Knight and, taking form lines between them, there is very little between Sevenna’s Knight and Harbour Wind here.

But Harbour Wind has raced just the once this season to the five by Sevenna’s Knight. BETDAQ 2.5.

Ralph Beckett’s River Of Stars has static form (this is the mare’s sixth consecutive race off around 106) and I can’t see where there’s room for a sudden surge now.

MARKOON ANOTHER HAGGAS

⭕ 3.25 York This class-3 of almost a mile provides a couple of bets related to the old adage: ‘top and bottom of a handicap.’

Top of this one is Markoon, whose trainer, William Haggas, likes to win in Yorkshire and won this race last year with Florida.

Markoon didn’t take kindly to restraint the last day over further but was smooth enough at today’s trip under Jim Crowley at Newmarket, battling to win well. BETDAQ value 5.0.

Tom Marquand turned down a trip to France to ride two here: Shah (1.40), who will be evens or a shade of odds-on in the opener, after running second at York in the Convivial maiden. Should win, now stepped up to a mile. Supernap.

Marquand rides bottomweight Amsterdam, getting a stone from Markoon in this 3yo handicap. BETDAQ 7.6

SIGNIFICANTLY BACK AT 11.0

⭕ 4.00 York (Garrowby Stakes) Nine out of 10 winners of this 6f Listed were drawn below gate six, and Michael Dods goes for a hat-trick in the race with Azure Blue coming out of the one stall.

His form at Listed level is 1101 but he doesn’t want it too soft, so a lot depends on what is meant by the forecast ‘showers.’

They won’t bother Quinault (gate 2) but the gelding has already won a Listed and has to give weight all round, going for a hat-trick today.

Significantly (4) has had a quiet year but was second in a big-field York handicap last autumn, which looks huge now after yesterday’s Haydock Sprint victory by the winner that day, Montassib.

Betdaq Betting Exchange 7.9 Azure Blue, 11 Significantly.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
