BOY ALL SET FOR THE HAT-TRICK

⭕ 1.50 Goodwood A change of trainer can revive the fortunes of some horses and, as five times a Goodwood winner, successful on all times of ground, Atalanta’s Boy deserves top weight and does not deserve to be outsider of the party.

He is giving away the years as well as the pounds to all his opponents but is bidding for a hat-trick in this race, with none of his opponents inspiring on form, except Many A Star if he can cope with ease in the ground.

Fivethousandtoone has won only his maiden, and that two years ago on AW not turf. Dusky Lord is a firm-ground-only scorer, mainly at 5f.

Indian Creak is a once-a-season winner, and he’s had his turn this season; at Windsor in June. He won at Goodwood as a juvenile but hasn’t lived up to it; form on the course since then: 0000020.

Many A Star won the Stewards Sprint here at Goodwood on firm in July when he came down the near side from gate 12; he’s now in the one stall.

Goodwood raced up to nearly seven seconds slow yesterday, and Many A Star’s form with cut in the ground is two ‘duck-eggs,’ sixth of nine and 11th of 18.

PARADIAS PICK-ME-UP FOR KING

⭕ 3.00 Goodwood Alan King has gone 47 runners and 39 days without a winner; otherwise I would regard Paradias as the proverbial ‘good thing’.

At least he has the best form of a King runner in the last six weeks, and it was here at Goodwood, beaten a neck giving the winner weight.

That winner was completing a five-timer and was afterwards clear in the Melrose until overhauled in the final furlong.

Falling Shadow, who has to concede Paradias 8lb, has been gelded since scoring at Newbury in the Spring but couldn’t give weight to another Godolphin runner on the July Course.

Savvy Victory has won only his maiden – always a bad sign – and Maytree Respite has been beaten twice stepped up a grade since his class-4 win at Newbury.

We don’t know much about Al Mubhir after just three appearances, except that he was fourth to a 108 animal the last day and his stable is in terrific form this year.

As also with Paradias and Falling Shadow, it’s a question of whether he handles the problematic pace and the ground in yet another small field.

BETDAQ value 4.5 Paradias

POWER LIKES TRACK AND GROUND

⭕ 3.35 Goodwood (Supreme Stakes) Another small-field Group race and it could get smaller. Was yesterday’s handicap success here by I’m A Gambler just an exercise gallop for a pattern victory today? It is highly unlikely.

He might not be the only one to pull out at the last minute: Double or Bubble, already a Group-3 winner, recently missed a follow-up to his decent fifth in the July Cup with a late withdrawal.

Happy Power won this two years back and was not disgraced, fourth in the Lennox Stakes (Group 2) on today’s course in July.

His Goodwood form in Group races is 431304 and his overall form on soft ground over 7f is 11334113.

Ever Given has scored at Goodwood but only over 6f and he finished behind Happy Power in the Lennox Stakes.

BETDAQ VALUE 2.82 Happy Power

CANDY BETTER THAN BARE FORM

⭕ 3.55 Yarmouth Miss Candy’s pedigree says she will enjoy this step up to a mile and her Yarmouth course win in July suggests her rating can be upgraded; three of the four behind her that day have all won since.

If you then add Paddy Bradley’s claim, she must be up there off a mark with the morning favourites, Cubanista and Gold Splash.

Cubanista won on soft here (it’s firm at Yarmouth today) in first-time cheekpieces but was then beaten off his revised rating, with horses around him that have also been beaten.

Gold Splash is a maiden, claimed off 7lb; and the next one in the betting is aged nine. Alto Volante changes stables for a third time.

BETDAQ VALUE 8.8 Miss Candy
