GOOD TIMES! 10-1 CUP SPRINGER: ‘The Hannon Times are here again’ was Daqman’s headline yesterday and, sure enough, the East Everleigh stable’s Lexington Times won the Lingfield Spring Cup at yet another big price for our man after a week of top-odds winners. His two yesterday were:

WON 10-1 Lexington Times
WON 7-1 Theinval

17 BIG WINS INSIDE EIGHT DAYS: That gave Daqman four winning days out of five and 17 wins in the big-race period from Saturday to Saturday, including 12 at Cheltenham. The score this NH season in feature races picked by Pricewise of the Racing Post is: Daqman 33, Pricewise 14.

POWER PAIR LOOK SET TO BLANK RUSSE

CARLISLE The week ends low key after the sensations of Cheltenham, and it will be difficult to continue my winning streak of big-odds winners.

Nicky Richards has had a good season, without the highs of Cheltenham success – his two at the festival were not disgraced but not in the frame – and now Tutchec lowers his sights with every chance today.

Tutchec (4.05) completed a four-timer a year or so ago, three of those wins here at Carlisle, before returning to the track to run third in this 3m 2f chase off a total of 33lb higher.

Tutchec is easily forgiven his failure in the Eider Chase bog now he returns to his favourite course, off an 11lb lower mark than for last year’s placing.

Though he is that much lower, his actual racing weight here is 3lb higher than he was asked to carry a year ago, which means one thing: the quality of today’s field is much lower.

Russe Blanc heads the market. He’s made gallant attempts to defy his penalties for a narrow win at Exeter in November but even in defeat has gone up another 4lb, taking him 12lb higher than for that success.

Also dropped in grade after the Eider is Fill The Power. With Jonathan England’s claim, he is well within his winning ratings range, and most of Sue Smith’s recent runners have been going close recently.

Chavoy is up nearly a stone for his consistency in four races this year, and Hada Men is still qualified for novice chases at the age of 10. I shall take Tutchec (5.7 on BETFDAQ early mouse) and Fill The Power (7.6) against this field.

I reckon morning-favourite Suprise Vendor (4.40) is just a tad exposed after 66 races; Walser had a run of 18 defeats before he got his head in front; Nafaath hasn’t won a hurdle race for five years; and Snowed In’s only success outside novice company came when the grey beat – guess who – Nafaath.

So much for the front of the market. It’s got me fancying the rank outsider of the party Indepub. The last time he was rated 88 and got the soft ground he needs he won here at Carlisle.

Claimed off today, he’s 22lb below his rating of a year ago. The 16.5 on BETDAQ was honey on my cornflakes (well, we’re not supposed to eat sugar).

FOLLOW THIS ONE ALL THE WAY HOME

NAAS Second in the JLT, third in the Gold Cup and in the RSA, and fourth in the Grand Annual. Great credit to the trainer Noel Meade, yet a very frustrating Cheltenham week.

Tulsa Jack, trained by Meade, and Forever Gold have sneaked into the bottom of the handicap in the Irish Stallion Farms Novice Chase Final (4.45).

Both have spent much of their time hurdling, with the result that Forever Gold’s chase rating is 13lb lower than for hurdles and Tulsa Jack’s 8lb lower.

The morning favourite, Heathfield, already struggling to get back into the winners’ enclosure, is now 10lb higher than for his last success. Katnap looks set for revenge at the revised weights over his Down Royal conqueror, Aurora Bell, but he is stuck in a rut with a bridesmaid four seconds in a row.

All The Way Home (5.15) seems to have enjoyed the move to Liz Doyle’s Wexford yard, jumping skilfully at Clonmel. Nap.

LIMERICK Willie Mullins’ Cheltenham exploits have pushed him past the £2m prizemoney total for the season but there are still a few novices at home that need polishing before they can shine and add to the silverware.

Lyrical Theatre (2.55) reverts to 2m after her defeat by Morning Run in the Solerina at Fairyhouse. Another mare, Vroum Vroum Mag (4.00), goes for a longer trip again after her last step up secured a 26-lengths success at Thurles.

If we can’t find huge-priced winners, we’ll leverage for profit with some Daq Multiples on my fancied favourites at Naas and Limerick.
